How do you find out where these people are going to be?

I wish this was going to be on the south side of DFW instead of the north

side.

Anne

-- DFW members - please join us

We have at least 20 committed to this, let's bring in more.

Sometimes….Silence… ..Speaks Volumes……

Please come help us by participating in a demonstration in support of

the Combating Autism Act…

Time: 10:00 am. Critical time is from 11 -12***

Day: Monday, October 30

Location: Renaissance Hotel, on Hwy 75 at Renner.

Rallying point will be at the next to Valet Parking

Event: Speaker Dennis Hastert is appearing at a fundraising

event for Sam

Theme: Help Break the Silence: Autism Silenced Our Children,

Barton Silenced Our Vote, Hastert Promotes the Silence, We Need To

Break

the Silence…

The Reason

The Combating Autism Act is the first federal legislation that

directly

affects Autism. It passed unanimously in the Senate and is now being

held hostage by Rep. Joe Barton of Texas in the House of

Representatives. Speaker of the House Hastert has the power to change

this course of events and right now chooses not to. This is not

democracy, it is people in power sacrificing the lives of young

children

for their own political advantage. Please come out and support the

CAA

and all those children with Autism.

If you are a parent of a child with Autism, or if you work with these

very special children, or of you just care about upholding the

democratic process and believe that people's voices should be heard,

then this should ignite your spirit and enlist you to act. Please

come

out and support the Combating Autism Act. Great care and attention

has

been made to make our demonstration a noble one and free from

partisan

politics. It is about taking a stand for society's most vulnerable

people, it is about taking a stand for children with Autism – they

have been kept silent for too long.

Parents Role

· Participate in a Silent

demonstration, to urge Barton, Hastert and other members of Congress

who

have co-sponsored CAA to push for its release.

· Bring your family, friends, and

therapists for support.

· We will sit/stand in silence

holding signs, with the main theme of:

· Autism Silenced Our Children

· Barton Silenced Our Vote

· Give us Back Our Voices

Speaker of the House – SPEAK!

· Silence seems to be the link on so

many levels. It will serve as a symbol for our children not having a

voice. Autism has robbed our children of their voice and Hastert and

Barton have robbed them of their voice in the political process. We

will

be silent for One hour and then….We Will Speak Out.

What we need from you:

1. Commit to joining the demonstration and, hopefully, bring others!

2. Wear black and white – we want our message to be crisp and

clean. No distractions from T-Shirts and other slogans. We will

present a united front this way and enhance our visibility. (It is

vital

that you not wear T-Shirts with other messages – our message has to

be a simple and concise one…otherwise we risk losing our

credibility…We ask you to commit to this or we may have to take away

your sign or shirt!!)

3. Participate in a Work Party (if possible) on either Friday the

27th,

or Sunday the 29th to make signs. (the Location will be posted) We

are

going to have recommended slogans and we will make signs with them.

We

can also post the slogans so you can make your own, but you must

stick

to the theme of the recommended slogans or, unfortunately, we might

have

to take away your sign.

4. Stand with other parents and supporters in silence for 1 hour

(unless no one is looking J)

5. Volunteer to help with shopping (posters, stencils, paints,

stakes),

organizing the Work Party, and Telephone Calls (we probably need 3

more

committed people to volunteer).

6. Send in Black and White Pictures of your kids (3x5, 4x6) so that

we

can make a collage poster.

I would love to help but what do you all do with your children? There is no way

I could take mine. He would be off and running before we got out of the car

good!

- Mara's group is working on getting a sitter for those with

childcare issues. I'll have to check on the status of that.

I JUST CANT NOT GO!! Wow - I am sitting here crying as I read

that one line. I, together with Kristi and a small crew of

wonderful moms here in Frisco, have been working day and night on

this demonstration on Monday. I was just about to call it a night

because I have been up 48 hours straight negotiating, pleading and

strategizing and I was just questioning - Why?? And then I saw your

line...that one beautiful line that says it all.

THANK YOU and Thank you to all of you wonderful people who will be

coming up on Monday. We can't not act...we must do this. At the

very least, it will be a testament for our children of how much we

love them and how far we will go to fight for what is right ....So

anyway, I am crying because I am just so touched by the response of

all you courageous, determined and tired parents... sleep tight and

I can not wait to meet you all on Monday - Thanks...Mara

> Does anyone have one or know where I could buy one of those

harnesses to put on kids like if you were to go to Six Flags or

someplace you didn't want them wandering off? I'm coming on Monday

with my little boy in-tow! I just can't NOT go. It's too important.
