Hands-on Training for for Every Skill in the Assessment of Basic

Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) by Drs. Partington and Sundberg

Hosted by Central Texas Autism Center

When: September 21-23, 2006

8:30am-5:00pm,

Registration first

day at 8:00am

This three-day workshop is designed to provide therapists, teachers,

speech pathologists and parents with guided practice in

implementation of ABA/VB teaching methods. Substantial workshop time

will be dedicated to guided practice in methods of effective

instruction. Each participant will review video examples and receive

individualized feedback regarding teaching methods on skills in the

ABLLS curriculum.

Instruction and supervised practice is provided for the following

areas:

• Establishing instructional control with an unwilling learner

• Manipulating motivative operations (MO) during teaching

opportunities to maintain attention and maximize learning

• Use of the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills

(ABLLS) in developing instructional objectives

• Teaching the echoic repertoire

• Transitioning from sign language to vocal verbal behavior

• Manipulating MOs to teach early to advanced manding skills

• Teaching early to advanced skills within the following

areas: receptive, visual performance, motor imitation, tacting, and

intraverbal

• Organizing program materials

• Recording data that guides teaching

*Participants should bring a completed ABLLS to the workshop.
