Whole Foods sells it in several varieties. It is a fermented beverage similar to kefir but not made w/coconut or milk.

I was listening to one of the past discussions from the archive of autismone radio and heard someone mention Kombucha tea and how it has live active cultures and that it has gut healing benefits, but is hard to get. I've never heard of this before... Has anyone else heard of this or used this? Also, is it safe for children and adults?

I have tried it but b/c I have yeast issues I think, it did not agree with me. It is made from fermented mushrooms and I think that I will neer do well with mushrooms even if they are fermented. Not the best tasting IMO, but many people love it and say it helps them with digestion and energy level. You can save money and make it yourself too.Dana Read wrote: Whole Foods sells it in several varieties. It is a fermented beverage

The mushroom that is used to make Kombucha isn't really a mushroom -

it looks like one but it's just a blob of a symbiotic yeast/bacteria

that is used to ferment sweetened black tea. The fermentation

process " eats " the sugar and what left left is supposed to have

wonderful digestive properties. I drank some and had the heavy

tummy/head feeling that I get after a wine cooler. I'm making a

batch myself now.

I love it my favorite is www.GTSkombucha.com although there are many types I like the strawberry it tastes like an unsweetned soda that is slightly spoiled. It sounds bad but it isnt that bad and if you don't eat lots of sweets then you dont miss the lack of sugar. It never made me light headed or gave me anything other than making me hungry a lot. I guess it reacts differently with many.

Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
