I'm not sure how much charcoal is safe. We have to be very careful with it as it also absorbs medication and nutrients. I have slowed down the probiotics so the die off isn't so bad, and we use alot of epsom salt baths. Sally,

Our DAN has told us it can be used safely on a regular basis. I know people who give it immediately after an infraction. Your son probably did well on SCD because he was able to easily digest everything he was eating. Many of our kids have problems w/food not because of a particular allergy but because they can't break down much of what they are ingesting. If he had pizza, gluten and casein can both be difficult to digest. My kids also have problems w/phenols (tomatoes).

An interesting event happened yesterday. I gave our 18 yr old Aspergers son (with severe depression) some activated charcoal at 9:00 am (because I had given him some LDM100 antiviral and he was very depressed and aggitated). Within 30 min. he was smiling--and it lasted all day! He was much happier than I've seen him in years! It got me to thinking, his depression has GOT TO BE caused by something he is eating or that is in his gut. Then today, when he came home from school, he was SEVERLY anxious. I asked what he had for lunch at school and he said, "Pizza." I am wondering if he has a dairy allergy but he doesn't want to hear that.We did the SCD diet a year ago and GF/CF for 3 months recently. He did well on the SCD but I couldn't see any particular food allergy; the GF/CF had little change but I suspect he was cheating. Blood tests only show that he has a yeast problem.Does anyone know of a down-side of activated charcoal that I am unaware of? Can it be a tool to clean out the toxins in the gut to see if an introduced food bothers our kids?Sally

Sally,

How long has he been on the LDM100? We've found stool issues with

many of the kids, with and without the rash. If it's in the first

week or two we have found some soft stools and digestive upset as

they pass a lot of dead viruses. Generally the herb itself does not

cause a lot of stress, but the large amount of toxins as the viruses

die can overwhelm the system, rash or not. The LDM100 not only kills

the virus, it also makes the cell slippery so the virus claws fall

off the cells.

Just a suggestion but I would see if you could get him to really stick to GF/CF. For his age and size it would probably take at least 3 to 4 months to show improvement. If he cheated at all it would bring you back to square one. Maybe thats why you didnt see huge benefits? The part about depression just makes sense for GF/CF to me : )

Re: Activated Charcoal

Rita,My ds, , is now on Diflucan and Virastop and I tried the LDM100 again (starting with 5 drops x2 daily). He gets a bit hyper but it is tolerable. I am continuing with that and slowly increasing the dose. Somehow, I think the yeast is causing his depression and the LDM100 must have done something to the yeast (was the depression die-off?). Interesting that the Diflucan caused no die-off.I had put the LDM100 on the back burner but after reading these posts in the past days, I thought I would try it again and am glad to get some response from him that we can live with.sally> > > > > An interesting event happened yesterday. Sally,

See Lorina's post #27521. She addresses the LDM100/yeast issue too.

Yes, we have found that yeast can kick up with the die off. We've

heard that with the release/killing of the viruses can also release

other toxins that it was holding on to (ie metals), which in turn

kicks up even more yeast. Depending on the case, a mild chelator

with the LDM100 has been used. As to not overload the immune system,

our doctors are NOT using strong chelators (ie DMPS)with the LDM100.

Instead are using Detoxamin/EDTA to help mop up the newly stirred up

toxins. All of this toxic movement can stir up yeast. We've been

keeping an eye on the child and upped our yeast protocols, again we

are working with a trained doctor (my son also did weekly GOOD Ionic

Foot Baths to assist in detoxing the toxin dump).
