Guest guest
Hi and others, I don't like playing games when it comes to matters of safety of our children and the serious business of accusing teachers of child abuse. If that particular teacher is " well known " for her abusive behavior, has really inflicted harm on a specific child, and there is hard evidence to prove it then charges have to be filed and investigations have to be launched to either clear her name or lock her in jail and punish the people that would harbor her. Otherwise, why are we as citizens and tax payers protecting such people? Is this the way the public school system works? I don't know..i don't deal with it...but having to depend on the " kind-hearted " personnel amongst us on the list to " watch out " for her is not just not Enough but is Unacceptable. Our kids deserve better than that. Guest guest
, Unfortunately, I think this IS the way the system works. There is no excuse for it, but I think it's because there is such a teacher shortage. In my school district, when my daughter was in kindergarten, she had a teacher who was verbally and physically abusive and neglectful. My daughter got off the bus one day with her jeans undone because when she got out of the bathroom, she couldn't button them back by herself and the teacher wouldn't do it. So my daughter walked around the rest of the day with her panties hanging out. She made derogatory remarks about special needs students in her class in front of those students; she has left the students on their own for short periods of time; she harassed a child about his constant tardiness (like it was HIS fault); she thumped a child in the back of his head; she told my daughter her brain was on vacation; she gave birthday spankings... I could go on and on. Parents have complained to the superintendent and school board I wrote complaint letters to the TEA and SBEC. After I found out she gave birthday spankings " , I turned her in to CPS. This was all while my daughter was in kindergarten. She's now going into third grade, and although this teacher no longer has the kindergarten class (thank GOD, because my PDD-NOS child is going into K), she IS still teaching at this school with older grades. She was moved last summer to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade social studies/science, and has again had multiple complaints by parents about how she handles the classroom. This is a person who has NO BUSINESS TEACHING CHILDREN, but nothing has been done about her. So among the other oh-so-great issues in our schools, we also have this issue as well, that must be too taboo to deal with. Guest guest
This is really unfortunate. The thing we fear the most, our children being abused without our knowledge. But worse, being abused in front of our eyes is really heart breaking. Suggestion, if anyone can gather even 3 other parents to testify against this abuse, Im sure the MEDIA will be more than willing to publicize it. And when it happens, the High Officials of the School District will be forced to explain why they keep this kind of people in the system. Having a shortage of teachers is not an excuse to treat our children with NO respect. > > , > > Unfortunately, I think this IS the way the system works. Guest guest
Please don't even think for a moment that Candis is " playing games " . I know from when we spoke (a year ago?) what a nightmare it has been for her to try to get action on this issue, and how many people in positions of authority just turned their backs on her. Sounds horrific that it happened in our country, right? Just another horrible miscarriage of justice, and THANK YOU Candis for bringing this to the attention of everybody whose child might be in harm's way. I would hope that we would all do this for each other, because unfortunately, we can't always count on the authorities, administrators, or any other governing entity to protect our children. Thank you again Candis, and God bless you. Aliza Anne wrote: , Unfortunately, I think this IS the way the system works. Guest guest
I emailed EVERY news outlet in Dallas/Ft. Worth and Waco, and NOT ONE of them picked it up. Not one of them contacted me for more info. Although, I THINK that at least one called the school to ask questions, because about a week after I sent those emails, the superintendent suddenly became so sugary sweet to me, I felt like I needed an insulin shot! Guest guest
Anne, lol insulin shot, that bad huh? But you are doing the right thing Anne. Hooray for you! Keep on shaking the tree, keep on barking. Is that the reason why that person is in the CY-Fair now from Hempstead? I dombard emails to Dateline NBC maybe if most of us if not all of us send them email, it will finally be heard. We just have to speak out if not yell out so they will listen. > > > > , > > > > Unfortunately, I think this IS the way the system works. Guest guest
I'm sure someone's tree-shaking is the reason this teacher has changed districts, but it was not MY tree-shaking that did it. I am talking about a totally different teacher. Like I said, I think dealing with abusive teachers is a taboo subject, because there is such a teacher shortage. I guess they figure any warm body that gets certification and shows up, is a good thing. Guest guest
I think the subject is taboo because of CYA! After all if they admit the teacher was in the wrong, there could be a liability for them. At a TCASE law conference several years ago the presenters said that sovereign immunity doesn't apply in the case of abuse or gross negligence. This means that the parents could go after the educator's (or administrator's) personal assets. BUT, there was no legal cite given to back up the statement as best as I remember. Guest guest
I thought that CPS investigated instances of abuse by the school....at least they used to! Michele
