Guest guest
Chicken nuggets were my sons favorite and if you go to the glutin free mall website you can order Hillshire farm glutin free chicken nuggets. My son loves them and he is very picky. They are made form organic chicken and shaped like dinos. Shipping is priced per cooler so ship as many bags as can fit in a cooler. I now only use them when we are not prepared and it is critical for me to have something to fall back on that is easy to make. Guest guest
Hello everyone, My sweet Connor has been on his GFCF diet for 10 days now. Since he has started the diet (I'm still trying to get adjusted) he has done beautifully at pre-school until today. I just picked him up from school and the teacher and assistant said " What did you give him for breakfast this morning? " . Today he was not as focused and more hyper than he has been this week. The only thing I gave him before school was a Gerber graduates for toddlers strawberry fruit strip. Then I sent to school for snack time some homemade french toast with GFCF ingredients. Is the Graduates fruit strips not ok to give him? The ingredients are: organic dried apple puree, organic strawberry juice concentrate, organic lemon juice concentrate, vegetable juice for color, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and natural flavor. Do you think this is the cause for his problem today? He is such a picky eater and I've got to wean him off Tyson chicken patties and fish sticks. Should I just let him starve until he eats what I'm fixing him.? I know this is the answer. It is just making the complete change without grief from my husband. Guest guest
Natural flavors arent what they sound like. (Thats why the description, natural flavors, is so vague). Some even contain gluten. Try to give only whole foods snacks like fruits and vegetables and meats. If you are using rice, potatoes etc, use in moderation and in their purest form. I put my boys snacks on little toothpicks etc. to make them fun. You would be surprised at what appears to be gluten free is NOT really gluten free. Its like the peanut allergy, even though it doesnt appear to have nuts in it, there are often traces of nuts through other ingredients. If you truly want success with the GFCF diet, stay to natural, very unprocessed foods in there most natural forms. Gluten takes months to leave the body, so little infractions can reak havoc. Once the gluten has left the body, the results can be amazing so being truly rigid with the diet, like it is life-threatening for your child to have gluten, is really certain way of success with the diet. From our experience, SCD, no nut and casein free was what recovered our boys. We have just started introducing coconut flour after six months on the diet. Guest guest
You have to call Gerber to find out if they are gluten and casein free. Natural flavorings could mean a million different things including gluten and casein. My son would definitely act this way with eggs too. Have you had him allergy tested for eggs? It’s very common for our kids to be allergic to egg WHITES in particular. I have occasionally used the yolk only in the past okay but in the last few years we’ve gotten rid of them altogether. Gerber has been pretty good with me in the past about giving the ingredients from their hotline. If I remember correctly their turkey stew was okay, but I would definitely ask again. Also, sometimes there is a die off reaction after starting the diet once you’ve totally complied. Also when the kids are catching a cold, which is very common this time of year, they can 1st show it in their attention and focus. At least my son does…Good luck, From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of thestorklady Sent: Friday, November 30, 2007 12:03 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: GFCF diet and a bad day at pre-school Hello everyone, My sweet Connor has been on his GFCF diet for 10 days now. Guest guest
LeAnn, The things that stand out for me w/the fruit sticks is that they are strawberry (anything red causes a problem for my son, natural or artificial), the vegetable juice (could be highly phenolic depending on what type of veggies) and the "natural flavors", which really doesn't tell you anything or guarantee that they are safe. Beyond that, my kids can't digest fruit-roll up type of foods. Their bodies just don't break it down and I actually see it in little pieces in their stool, which is a bad sign. Just my experience. Will he eat plain old fruit? It's better for him because it has fiber and there are no hidden ingredients. I know it can be difficult in the beginning. Best of luck. - Dana -----Original Message-----From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On Behalf Of thestorkladySent: Friday, November 30, 2007 12:03 PMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: GFCF diet and a bad day at pre-school Hello everyone,My sweet Connor has been on his GFCF diet for 10 days now. Guest guest
Dear LeAnn, I don't know anything about why your son was hyper but I might be able to solve your fish stick problem. Dr. Prager's brand used to make a GF potoato crusted fish stick and fishies during passover and you could only get them then. They are actually very tasty. Today I saw a package that was not from passover which leads me to believe that the company is making them for the Gluten Free market. He is making a bunch of other GF products as well. His stuff is natural and kosher and usually dairy free as well. I saw this in our local stop and shop but health food shores and kosher groceries carry this brand as well. --------------- Ezorsezor@... Guest guest
For gfcf chicken or fish nuggets, dip in egg or what ever milk sub you use then just dip in gf brown rice flour with seasoning added and deep fry.
