Hi ! :) We are on the same week, only you are about 9 months

more of a veteran than me, LOL. BTW, congrats on the 8 lb loss, and

remember, you did not necessarily lose " muscle " and here's why. The

calipers measure your bodyfat percentage... the remainder of your

weight is not " muscle " it is " fat-free mass " which is made up of

fluids, bone, skeletal muscle, organs, etc. When you lose bodyfat,

you also lose the water weight that the fat was retaining (fat cells

store water) and the fluid (blood vessels shrink) that was moving

around in the fat cells. So, when you lose bodyfat, you will

naturally lose some " lean " or " fat-free " mass along with it, but is

doesn't mean you lost MUSCLE. Does that make sense? That is why

*sometimes* it appears that we lose fat-free mass along with the

bodyfat.

You are not building muscle as fast now as when you started BFL, when

you were probably building skeletal muscle tissue at the same rate

that you were losing some water retention and fluid volume from the

massive fat loss that you have experienced thus far. Now that you

have passed the point of *rapid* muscle gain, you are likely to see

some small losses in fat-free mass as the rest of your bodyfat

disappears. Unless you notice a diminishment in strength during your

weight-training, it is not very likely that the fat-free mass you

lose is actually skeletal muscle.

I hope that all made sense. :) I see so many people panic about

losing that hard-earned muscle-tissue when they see a loss of " lean "

in the calculations. I hope that clarifies that it is not a reason

to panic 99% of the time.

> Sounds like a needed break. We are at the same point in the

road. 5 weeks left. This week I had a 5 pound loss, really 8 of fat

and plus 3 muscle. I don't want to believe to calipers, did it 6

times. For the last 5 I decided a lower carb intake at nights. Lets

hope for a terrific week for both of us. Good luck.
