Roy

The numerous little bumps, covering forehead, chest, upper arms, upper

back, thighs....are usually improved by increasing your Vitamin A (or

beta Carotene that your body converts to Vitamin A...plus you can't

overdose on Beta Carotene).

At around 4 months out your right on target for developing this little

annoyance.

Roy, that is folliculitis and is from lack of vitamin A. You should

get some beta carotine and start knocking them back. I take at

least three of the 25,000 ones daily. It takes me four months to

use up my stores. I have done it twice. I tried ADEKs for this,

but for me, alas, it didn't work. I only took one daily, however.

The cheapest and most effective way FOR ME was the betacarotine. Or

you can buy those bags of horse carrots...

For a temporary fix, I used, SPARINGLY, a steroid cream on my face.

Kept it away from my eyes. Follow your doc's orders, naturally.

Roy, we forgot to warn you it takes four to six weeks to recover from

this rash. Even with lots of supplements. So dont' be discouraged.

Hi:

I also have acne. very big pimples mostly in my face and chest. i noticed that

hi-fat food makes it worse. Someone mentioned that rubbing with alcohol helps

with the acne. i did it and yes it helps. Most of my cane is in sweaty areas, so

i also wash my face everytime it is sweaty...

good luck

I have a serious problem - acne.

As a teenager, I didn't have maybe 5 pimples. I'm serious, it may

even be less than that. I have always had amazing facial skin and

never had a problem.

now that i am on all these darn drugs, I am having some serious

acne. Right now I have about 10 small pimples all over my face.

And one or two larger ones that are visible to others and I noticed

i have two large ones on my neck too. I'm thinking it's a side

effect of the plaquenil because they didn't start showing up in full

force like this until I started the plaquenil, but I suppose it

could be the Arava as well. (which is also making me lose my hair,

man am I a sight.)

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you think acne cleansers

will help in this particular situation since it's drug induced? If

so, which one should I get? I've never really had to take care of

my face - I wash it in the shower and that's it. Now I am washing

it ever night, putting on cream, putting on moisturizer in the

morning. It's bizarre.

(in case anyone was wondering, my mother too has amazing skin. she

has few wrinkles and only recently began using moisturizer and such.)

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is really

driving me nuts.

Houston

Since my acne is medication driven, changing up foods or sweat

patterns don't help. I stopped sodas and also a greasy diet and things

are worse. I truly feel it's the medication, whcih is why it's so

weird. Can't wait to see a new rheumatologist and see what they say!

Thanks for the suggestions Sharon. I too have sensitive skin and

typically use things that are hypo-allegenic (like Almay make-up and

cleansers). This acne just started appearing the last few weeks, so

there's been no need to see a derm yet. I can't take steroids, so

it's not due to that, but it has to be either the Arava or the

Plaquenil - both of which I am determined to continue to take

because they are helping me tremendously.

I'm going to try out some of the cleanser suggestions you all have

given me to see if that helps. So far, most of the acne is small

enough that only I can see it with a few larger, more visibile

ones. So I guess that's not so bad. I'm just used to having

perfectly clear, soft skin, the kind that people comment on all the

time - a good compliment I can get (in the midst of all my

fatness).

I hope your chest feels better soon and the cast comes off today!

fingers crossed for both!
