Guest guest
We are new to this group, and are looking to purchase a portable milking setup for cows. Have checked out Hamby's. They have a set up with the machines, bucket, vacuum pump and extra stuff for around $1,800. We actually have the claws and machines left over from 10 years ago, and an old bucket that would need a lid. Just concerned with the sanitation of old equipment, knowing nothing about it. New seems a safer bet. Also, planning to milk a six year old Holstein that has never been milked, only nursed her calf and extras. She is on the tame side, allows me to pet her and touch her udder while eating hay. Suggestions anyone? My daughter just returned from studying abroad in Nicaragua. She said that there they tie the calf to the back leg of the cow while milking so they don't kick. Not sure exactly how they do this, but it's interesting! Thanks, Liz
