Vibrating toothbrush for kids. My son loves it and he also is looking for sensory input inside his mouth.Sent via BlackBerry from T-MobileSender: autism-georgia Date: Sat, 31 Jul 2010 13:31:17 -0000To: <autism-georgia >ReplyTo: autism-georgia Subject: Re: Hands in mouth We also have this problem with our 4 year old son. He puts his entire hand in his mouth and sometimes almost gags himself. He also chews the inside of his lips to the point that they are covered in sores. Recently I found that he will stop these behaviors when I put a gum massager on my finger and rub his teeth and gums with it. (looks like a finger cot with bumps on it you can buy in children's tooth paste section of grocery store)He must be looking for some kind of deep pressure or intense input when he does these things to himself. I tried to massage his jaw area but it didn't get response as the inside of the mouth did. If I find anything else that works I'll be sure to let you know- Good Luck!! (to us all)>> Hi,> > I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with their ASD child putting their hands in their mouth. My son, who will be 4 next month, just started putting his hands in his mouth, especially when they are wet (in the tub or at the pool). He hasn't done this in quite some time (since before he was diagnosed) and has been progressing very well for the past 2 years otherwise and is very high functioning. He is on a multi-vitamin supplement (Kirkman braod spectrum Multi) and takes zinc seperately, as well. Not sure if I need to up the dosage on the zinc or multi-vitamin since he is getting older (I tried to give him more of the multi vit, but it gave him diarrhea)...not sure how much I should be giving of the zinc. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would appreciate it. I also think he does it all the more to aggrivate me, so I have tried not saying anything to him to give him negative attention, but he still does it either way! Thanks again :)> e>
