Guest guest
It is sad that when there is extra milk (like I have right now) I have to be creative to use it. Time kills many opportunities. I have 2 people who are coming and doing some work for milk, which is VERY cool. I cannot take any more share owners, as in lean times we would be extremely short. Have to plan for that. www.MajestyFarm.com " Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. " P.J. Mind you, later on we will get some feeder pigs to slop some to, and the chickens and pullets will get some as do the calves (and, shhh, some goes out the back door). but there still is a great excess, especially from 5 milking Jersey cows plus 4 more due to calve (can everybody say heifer, heifer, heifer? Maybe the girls will give us heifers! =-) Not bulls!) At peak production we will probably get close to 40 gallons a day! Not enough uses for it. Plus there are only 24 hours in a day to try and get everything done! We ALL must pick and choose what we want to do and physically can do! So please don't be horrified. At our farm it is a fact of life. I wish I had more time and energy to make everything that you said to make. I don't know where everyone lives because it is a rarity that anyone puts that on their posts (some don't even sign them) So if you lived closer, I tell everyone to bring your jars and come and get it!!!! We'd love to have you. I know of only two other people on this site from my state. If there are others they are lurkers and haven't shown face. =-( Ro - a producer Bob Hayles - excess milk BOB!!! YOU POURED OUT MILK!!!!???? I am horrified!! Milk lasts two weeks + if unopened and kept cool Why on earth pour it out!!?Make cheese, make kefir, make ice cream, make something - freeze it!! but PLEASE for gosh sakes!!!!! -- don't make my heart stop again by announcing you poured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Can you tell I don't have a good source for raw sweet goat's milk at present? - We get Jersey delivered to the house, but I sure miss my goat milk). sobbing, xxoo Wren Got Milk? Yes!!! Posted by: " Bob Hayles " bubbabobellijay thornberryvillage Date: Thu Apr 19, 2007 9:04 am ((PDT)) Hi All... Like the subject line in this email says... " got milk! " ...boy, do we " got milk! " We already had a good bit of excess milk...having to pour out 20 gallons last week...but after yesterday we REALLY have plenty for you folks that have been waiting on our production to pick up. We added three more milkers to our herd yesterday...Violet, JJ, and one whose registered name is " Queen of the Nile " , but who will have an easier nickname as soon as she tells us what she wants to be called...LOL...(you do know, an animal will tell you their name if you are patient and wait for them to tell you what it is). The bottom line is, we now have milk for those of you who have been patiently waiting...and plenty of it. <>< kathrine Deu 11:15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou may eat and be full.
