The powder didn't work which surprized me to no end but the pills do. I give about three a day to my 7 and 9 year olds but to my 14 year old who weighs 180 I give between 4 and 12 a day(depending on how rich I am feeling at the moment-all these supplemints run into money). I would have taken a probiotic WHILE I was carrying the baby. I would have treated myself and the baby Homeopathically from the start. I have one child that I started at two years old and he has not had any antibiotics although he has had ear problems and they tell me he has and exceptionally small ear canal that is susceptible to ear infections. I would have fed him more raw food (blended raw carrots instead of cooked, etc.) and less cooked food and I would never have allowed milk in his diet if could have seen how much better he is without it. You make the comment " use good minerals to replace the bad metals " My son is high in about 8 metals. Learned of high Lead and Mercury from blood test. Learned of high Mercury, lead, copper, and 5 others I can't think of from hair test about 8 years ago. I am sure his count is different now but I am not willing to keep spending money to count something I don't seem to be able to help. We have never been able to get the metals out by using the Kyo greens or the vitamin " C " or anything else they suggested. Cilantro makes him sick. He takes Cod liver oil, vitamin " E " , Prevail digestive enzyme, Primal defense probiotic, Co-Q10, B-complex, vitamin " C " , 250 L-Taurine, Lipoic Acid, Aspartic Acid, 50 mg B6, 500 mg Magnesium. That is what he takes to help with his petit mal Seizures. Starting anything else just increases his seizures. Do you have any thoughts on MINERALS to get out bad metals with out increasing his seizures???? thanks Laurie

Diet affects everything we do. There are artificial flavors in things we would never dream of. There are fillers and binders in everything to make them last longer on the shelf. For instance-Garlic salt usually has a substance in it to keep it from caking. Buying salt and plain granulated or powdered garlic is just as easy if we know to do it. In most low fat milk there is a preservative. In White marshmellows there is BLUE dye (which is made from the byproducts of the oil that goes in our cars). So looking through what the Feingold group has researched may help you solve some of the puzzle. Also salicylate are sometimes culprits of troubling behavior. When my youngest son eats apples he gets the runs. When my oldest son eats apples he gets a terrible case of the sillies-he laughs to the point that it will drive anyone crazy. When my older son eats cucumbers it affects his bladder and he will have trouble with daytime wetting. And milk and wheat make it very hard for him to hold onto his temper. It might be worth looking into. Laurie

Largemeals/overfeeding is the enemy of a reflux baby. > This can make the vomitting and pain worse. Make sure that the Mom is not switching breasts during a feeding. The foremilk is quite thin, and it is only after feeding for a while that the hind milk becomes available. This is where the fats (and as a result the fat-soluble vitamin) are concentrated. If the baby is only getting the thinner fore milk, they can eat more than they should in an attempt to get the nutrition they need. When my kids were breastfeeding, the La Leche league recommended switching breasts, but they have since changed their tune. ~~ Jocelyne
Guest guest
Hi -- Just like with 2 y.o.'s (or anyone, for that matter!) it's best not to respond to a melt down by melting down yourself -- but, it's gonna happen at least sometime. I'm sure that all of us know exactly what you're feeling -- this past summer I was in a small, quiet museum exhibit room with my 14 y.o. OCD/TS/ADHD son and his 12 y.o. sister. He was frustrated and then angry at her for some reason and wound up yelling and shoving her -- everyone in the room stopped to stare. Not fun. When (not IF) I find myself responding with anger (usually because of my son's cursing at me because he doesn't lilke what he's being told he needs to do) I try to disengage & say to him, as calmly as possible, " okay, that was a bad choice, " and then move to either delete his favorite computer game or remove his PS2 equipment. Sometimes he escalates for a minute (out of frustration and, I'm sure, awareness that what he was doing was wrong), but we can separate and then have a calmer discussion later. His pdoc would say that we just need to tell him that that kind of unacceptable physical or cursing behavior is...unacceptable (well, duh) -- but the real trick is to help them figure out how to reduce their anxiety, frustration and impulsivity. Is your son working with a therapist now? Do you have someone to talk with? Jane B. Guest guest
Spirulina, I have been told by a naturopath it can be used as a sole source of nutrition when your not tolerating any foods. I've never heard of this. It doesn't seem possible. I don't think it would have enough calories??? Any thoughts??? Re: Effectively diagnosing and treating Candida by Teitelbaum it never goes away.. your wasting your money on supplements for Candida overgrowth. The yeast eventually adapts to the supplements you take. Yea, you can improve and get arid of some of your overgrowth, but it NEVER goes away completely once its at the chronic stage. I dont mean to sound like the doomslayer here..but it is true.. Anyone that tells you they have been cured of chronic candidiasis (someone thats had it for atleast 5 years straight) is full of crap. I even went to Biamonte in N.Y.C. for like a year and spent over a $1000 on just his supplements.. Even he said candida adapts to all supplements eventually. You just gotta live with it... Treat candida like its your buddy... sometimes he acts up...sometimes he doesnt.. oh yea..and when your sleeping, he's awake. maybe if you dont eat anything for a month and just drink water, you have a slight chance of being cured of candidiasis.. but you wouldnt live..so whats the use.. Dont eat asmuch sugar as normal people do...stay away from carbs and breads asmuch as possible and you will live a decent life... Spending all your money on these crazy herbs and supplements is just hurtin your stomach and putting more stress on your heart and other organs. Plus, the brain fog is 20 times worse when you take those stupid supplements.. and no, its not die-off reactions... thats just what people like to say to make u feel better. There is no scientific evidence that proves chronic candidiasis is curable... infact most of the modern medical community doesnt even believe in Chronic Candidiasis. They think just giving you Nystatin will cure it. So like i said..just be calm and accept it..and live with it.
Guest guest
I've always heard great things about spirulina, lots of vitamins, minerals, proteins, amino acids etc. so I guess it would be a good if you have to have it as a sole source of nutrition, although it would be difficult to consume it in sufficient quantities. I know when I was very underweight and ill (6 stone) with giardia many years ago, very allergic and not able to digest animal protein, I managed to put on a stone and a half by eating lots of oats porridge, some brown rice (do be careful of carbohydrates though) and homemade green soup...the soup was leeks, garlic, onion, rice pasta, spinach, lentils, olive oil, mineral water, any other vegetables that were tolerated, all boiled up together. Plus soup did seem easier on the digestive system at that stage as well. Hope you manage to find something that works for you diet-wise: I know it can get pretty frightening when you suddenly become allergic to lots of foods. Guest guest
I'm Diastrophic. 3 ft 6 inches. I have my seat waaaaaay up because my arms are really short. Had a 98 Silverado driver side air bag blow up in my face after a low speed front end collision. The bag barely touched me. I felt the air from it and gagged half to death from the power stuff they pack it with, but it never put a scratch on me. The driver bag is big but only big AROUND. Like a tire. Mine never came out more than oh...6-7 inches or so from the center of the steering wheel. Since I knew I was about to hit something I just pushed myself back into my seat and turned my head slightly to one side. I too was scared to death that it would hurt me but now I know for a fact that air bags as far as the DRIVER SIDE goes, on my 98 Silverado, will not hurt me. It may save my life. I had it replaced. The only advice I can give is from what I experienced personally myself in my truck. I can't answer for ever model vehicle in the universe. I can tell you that on every vehicle that I own or will ever own that comes with an air bag, it will stay on. They save lives. Happy crashing!
