It has been reportedly said that 345 H1N1 cases have been detected from last week from June 21-27. Also, the infection has claimed as many as 17 deaths, in this week. It has also been confirmed that none of the case is from foreign countries and all have originated from the country itself. The number is higher as compared to the figure reported last week i.e., 168 positive cases with 14 deaths from June 8-14. This has made it evident that the infection has spread to the parts, which were not affected last year. Following the re-emergence of the virus, in order to check the preparation of the nation for fighting back the disease, the Cabinet Secretary held a meeting on Monday. In the meeting, the Union Health Ministry's officials, along with Health Secretary, K Sujatha Rao and ICMR Director-General, Dr. V M Katoch were present. It was then concluded that H1N1 has gripped the country, it is prevalent that the flu will very soon take the place of the seasonal flu causing fever, cough and cold. It is a worrying fact that the flu needs to be treated with Tamiflu, otherwise the rate of deaths from the virus is much more than the rate in case of seasonal flu.
