Vandals Destroy McMinn Child's Pool

Family: Child Has ADHD, Asperger's

A McMinn County family is pleading for help after someone destroyed their son's

swimming pool.

Donny and Lottie Herd are offering a reward for information about who slashed

their adopted ten-year-old son's new pool.

The Herds adopted out of foster care and bought the swimming pool as a

reward for his good behavior.

has ADHD and Asperger's syndrome, a developmental disorder that affects a

person's social interaction skills.

McMinn County deputies said the pool was sitting outside the family business on

County Road 170 on Sunday, June 27th in Clearwater when someone slashed it

beyond repair. The incident happened between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

" It's cruelty, " said his father, Herd. " He took it pretty bad. "

The Herds say the greater damage was done to their son's happiness.
