Guest guest
Hello all. I am obtaining my first delivery of raw milk this thursday along with one pound of cheese, a dozen eggs, and a whole chicken. One of my many questions (i apologize ahead of time) I have is when I get my milk, do I just shake it up and drink it, or can I make butter out of the cream and fat that float to the top? I will be getting 3 gallons of milk this thursday and then won't be able to get more for 2 weeks, so i'm not sure if that is enough? I am 24 years old, so i've seen a butter churn before, grandma and grandpa have one that is at their house and we use to mess with it all the time, but I am not exactlky sure how to go about my new dairy experience. I have never had any raw dairy product before, but I am very excited about the switch. So any reccommendations on what i can or should do are welcome. I have done some searches on this site, but any links with directions would be great. Also i'm not sure what kind of container my milk will come in, but from the sounds of it, everyone pretty much recommends glass? I'll have to keep an eye out for some glass containers. How long is milk usually good for before I won't like to drink and then make something else out of it? Another question, I love thick chocolate milk, are there any recomendations for making chocolate milk the natural and safe way? Thanks for all of your help. I look forward to hearing from you.
