Mel

When I had my 5 extractions done we knew that implants were coming.

Sooo, they extracted my teeth and did bone grafts (one reason for

the bone graft was because I had sat on abcesses for YEARS.) Anyway

that all had to heal and the grafts " take " before the implants were

placed. 5 implants for 5 extractions...one implant replaced a tooth

that had been pulled YEARS ago. 6 implants total.

They can even do implants where there has been extensive bone loss.

Those implants are more expensive, it sort of creats it's own bone

formation with a " cage " surrounding the remaining bone.

At this time...insurance will not cover implants. But you may be

able to get them to cover the crown that sits on the implant.

Get your teeth pulled now if you need to...you can do the implants

later. I am having a one on one implant replacement...one implant

replaces one tooth. If you have several teeth in an area missing

you can do one implant and Bridge...it doesn't have to be a one to

one ratio.

Jo, I'm curious; what was the cost for each implant? I have one tooth that I

fear I'm going to loose - remember to take all your calcium folks - and I

need that tooth for chewing!

Jim...honest answer...I don't know. I had 5 surgical extractions,

they had to go digging for a broken tooth root that was traveling in

my palate, 5 bone grafts, Upper gums shaved, then 6 implants and

every tooth in my head will either have a crown or a veneer on it. I

didn't get a break down of cost...just a bottom line then a discount

for paying cash. But you could buy a real nice new car for what it

cost.
