Guest guest
Greetings NEW INSPIRE SPECIAL NEEDS BASEBALL players and families:SPRING 2010 INSPIRE BASEBALL IS HERE! The website for this great league is up and running. You can register your child for this special needs baseball league at the website: www.pryaa.com – click on home and then registration from the drop-down menu. Then look for INSPIRE Baseball. I am pleased to be helping out the INSPIRE league this season as its new INSPIRE league director. and Brennan, the Special Needs League's prior directors, are stepping down from this role and are in need of a well deserved break. and Brennan are not leaving the league – they are taking on some roles that have a little less work. Please thank them when you get the chance because you will see them on the field for many of our Spring 2010 games. Games for the INSPIRE SPECIAL NEEDS Spring 2010 Baseball season start on March 13, 2010 and will go to our closing day of May 15, 2010.For those of you who have never heard of the INSPIRE/Special Needs League through the Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association of Duluth / Northern Gwinnett (PRYAA - see www.pryaa.com), here is some additional background information for you: The INSPIRE Baseball league is perfect for special needs kids of all ages – there are kids who are in kindergarten to teenagers in highschool. It is completely non-competitive – every child scores a home run and never gets an out (we rotate in-field and out-field once a team has gone through its batting line-up once or twice). Usually, games are kept to about an hour. There is a wide range of special needs kids who participate -- from physical needs kids in wheel chairs to kids with autism. Siblings of the special needs kids are encouraged to play along the side of their special needs family members. Usually, parents play along side-by-side with their special needs kids during the games. My son and I have been in the league for over three seasons -- it's perfect -- one hour games, no outs, no strikes, no score! Everyone usually hits a home run or is batted home by a team mate. It's just kids having fun and feeling part of a team. If you are new to the league or have any questions, feel free to contact me or some of my mother coaches like Marty Gallant (Physical Needs Expert Mom at mfgallant@... or Cell: ) or Suzanne Farr (AUTISM Expert Mom at suzanne@... or cell ). The baseball field, which is rubberized and is perfect for kids with physical needs and/or mental needs, is located at the intersection of Wildwood Road and Satellite Boulevard. This is just north of the intersection of Satellite and Old Peachtree in Duluth. I hope that you will consider having your special needs child join this great baseball league. If you do not feel like joining at this time, but are curious, feel free to stop by and watch one of our games which are usually held between 10am and Noon on Saturdays for this Spring 2010 season.
