Quick question...is tomato a common alergen? I wonder why you list tomato as a food to possibly eliminate. I have been eating lots of tomatoes each day for years and just recently realized I should give it a break already. Thanks, a

Guest guest
Tomatoes, and other citrus related foods, are often allergens. Guest guest
>>>tomatoes and almonds are high in salicytes (sp?) which are often implicated in ADD.<<< Salicylates :-) Tomatoes are also a problem for people sensitive to the nightshade family (potatoes, eggplant, capsicum (peppers), tomatoes). If I over-indulge I get joint pain and fluid retention. Cheers, Tas'.
Guest guest
Am partway through Genetic Nutritioneering. If I'd known it was Human Genome Project I would have shied away. Is some interesting new acceptable info, some questionable and most diet suggestions that are still in the food pyramid realm. Tomatoes and the other nightshades, peppers, potatoes and eggplant were seen as more allergenic than gluten and casein especially in arthritic inflammation. Going off subject a bit. For cholesterol and Alzheimer's, there's a blood protein called apolipoprotein E that transports fat and cholesterol. Exits in 3 forms apoE2, E3 and E4. We get a gene from father and mother. Genes that create apoE2 can eat high fat without heart disease and don't get Alzheimer's. ApoE4 is highest risk for both. Gluten sensitivity first in links. Researchers in Sweden correlated gluten sensitive individuals who continued to eat wheat with early onset dementia. Studies are being done to determine if gluten sensitive with apoE4 can avoid dementia with gf diet. WAnita
