Ok here is my assessment of my new labs and dexa scan...they SUCK ....worse they

have ever been. I am 2.9 years out from DS. Seems like lack of calcium has

caught up with me. I take my calcium, (over 3000 mg) DAILY, evidently just not

enough....

I realize other have had worse...but I have been swamped and not had time to

re-read about all of this ....have to go out of town next week and then to to

Dad's soon after that.

Got my Dexa Scan results today and I am officially osteopenic...Pre-DS Dexa

scan was hip -0.03 and spine +0.6....two years later it is hip - 1.55 and spine

-1.25 ...I do not like this....ostea runs in my family to start...Maybe explains

the extra back pain I have been having.

Other labs out of whack are: Vit D....I know how to fix that...but been out of

the sun because of the face lift for it to heal....have sent an email to Dr

Kuster to see if I can get back in the sun again...or I will start popping

bunches more of Vit D. So survey time...which Vit D works best for you ? I had

already increased my Vit D knowing I was not in the sun...but it did not matter.

Most of my CBC levels are quite low and out of range..some so low they do not

even read a number. I am only 4 months post-op PS but thought they would be

better than this. This is strange, my glucose is high...108...in a range of

65-99....not real high...but maybe it is the Easter candy...which is almost

gone..Thank goodness.

My CH/HDL is 84 H - (range 39-59)

but total cholesteral is 174 -normal...although it was lower 6 months ago at

137

Bun/creatine ratio is 23.7 H (normal 7-16) but down from 32H 6 months

ago...so improved

TSH...well it DROPPED to 0.21 L (range of .38 - 6.15) and pre-op was 1.26

Vit D Hydroxy was 40.3 six months ago and now dropped to only ll with (range

of 20-100) - I had even added Vit D to try to increase it some more.

Sodium is high...359 (range 188-341) - I do salt a lot of stuff...but it

tastes great- also been using a lot of ketchup - in the past it has been in the

140 ranges...

Transferrin is high at 359 (range of 183-341) - so I guess my iron is a

okay...that is good.

PTH is back down to 45 (range 10-65) - from a high of 94 back on 8/05 - so

how can this be good and the Bone scan suck? See why I am confused.

So I am not sure what this all means....this is the most my labs have ever

been off..Could it be a bad blood draw, the gal took forever.....and was double

and triple checking everything......going to fax this all to Dr W tomorrow and

see what he says...Other labs are in normal ranges...with little movement up or

down...but nothing major in change. I did these a couple of months early as I

need to go see my Dad real soon..plus being post - PS I thought it would tell me

a lot on how I am healing on the inside and how my body reacted to it's new

life....Dad is not doing well again and I wanted to know before I went in case I

needed to make adjustments.

Being my PCP is not up on all of this and my DS doc is 6 or 7 hours away do

you all think it is time I go to an endocrinologist to get this all fixed or

just start tweaking by what the levels are and retest after the trip to Dad's ?

Thanks for any input.
