Guest guest
Hello! I'm Kathleen, and I'm from North Liberty, IN, which is near South Bend. Actually, we're in the process of moving from our place on 5 acres in ton, IN, to a 43 acre ex-dairy farm in North Liberty. By we, I mean my husband of 12 years, and my four children age 2 through 11. We currently have 7 horses, but no "milking" animals yet lol. I have been trying to eat more natural and healthy foods. We have thought of getting a cow for a while, but didn't know if we had enough land. So, now there's no excuse not too! Well, almost. I probably won't have the cash for a cow until we sell our house in ton. But, the good news is that my neighbor has Nubian goats, and I have already fallen in love with one of the kids. I think I will buy a couple from her. I'm hoping to learn how to milk and keep it clean so we can drink it raw. We can easily go through 2 gallons a day in just what we drink (not counting butter, yogurt, etc), and I really hate buying storebought! In Indiana, it is illegal to sell raw milk, so there are some milk share programs. There is one trying to start up near me, but I think it was $400 a share for a gallon and a half a week. That just won't cut it for me, since we could use that in a day lol. I'm really glad I found this group! Kathleen mustangkt@...
