Guest guest
Regrettably, the recipe in Sally's book does not resemble any chutney I've ever had... I've tried it and it was terrible... as I live in London UK we've got wide access to the real thing :-)... good luck... Check out this fresh chutney recipe... you might be able to tweak it a bit... no sugar in this one... http://www.sanatansociety.org/indian_vegetarian_recipes/vegetarian_recipes_coria\ nder_chutney_with_apple.htm or -- http://www.lavarenne.com/recipes/1998/october.htm here's an adaptable general 'fruit' chutney recipe -- http://www.asiafood.org/recipe_list_link.cfm?recipeid=200 & startno=1 & endno=1 & keyw\ ord=test & dish= Dedy From: Pratick Mukherjee << Chutney - with apples? Guest guest
Pratick, I enjoy apples sliced and sauteed in ghee with a cinnamon and nutmeg and a tiny bit of salt. I saute them until they are fairly soft. I'll do this sometimes for a dessert; they are plenty sweet w/out any sugar added. Since your aren't organic, I'd peel them first. > Greetings, > > We have about 6 - 8 [non-organic] apples at home (a gift). > Neither of us likes apples particularly (esp. non-organic). > > Any suggestions what to do with them? > Anything that doesn't require sugar (or any sweetner). > > Is it possible to ferment them in any way? > > Thanks.
