apples particularly (esp. non-organic).

Any suggestions what to do with them?

Anything that doesn't require sugar (or any sweetner).

Is it possible to ferment them in any way?>>

feed them to a local horse. non-organic apples are likely to be pesticide

ridden, and you don't want fermented pesticides.

Regrettably, the recipe in Sally's book does not resemble any chutney I've ever

had... I've tried it and it was terrible... as I live in London UK we've got

wide access to the real thing :-)... good luck...

Check out this fresh chutney recipe... you might be able to tweak it a bit... no

sugar in this one...

here's an adaptable general 'fruit' chutney recipe --

Pratick,

I enjoy apples sliced and sauteed in ghee with a cinnamon and nutmeg

and a tiny bit of salt. I saute them until they are fairly soft.

I'll do this sometimes for a dessert; they are plenty sweet w/out any

sugar added. Since your aren't organic, I'd peel them first.
