Guest guest
Hi Javerzak;Welcome;I also have many of the traits of Aspergers, online tests indicate strongly I am, but am not medically diagnosed;Even if I am not genetically an Aspie, I am enjoying this site, and feel a kinship with many on it. Maybe similar to a child who was raised by a family of a different race, the child is not genetically of the adopted parents race but is part of their culture.rl 'My cat Rusty is a servant of the Living God....'adapted from a poem by SmartTo: FAMSecretSociety Sent: Sun, April 25, 2010 1:10:50 AMSubject: 'Who Am I?' and 'What Am I doing here?' Both good questions if you don't mind me saying so myself. I've never been formally diagnosed with A.S. but I have read about it and even took some online profile tests for it and indications are I may be an Aspie. I would say a mild case but nonetheless. If anything I'm here to learn more but most importantly if I am an Aspie. If not, I won't lurk this group any longer but I am hoping to learn more. That is part of who I am and what I doing here. Guest guest
Did I mention that I am a raging hypochondriac?...kidding. Interesting example you've chosen to elaborate your point. I am in fact adopted into a Czech/Norwegian/Swedish/German/N.A.Indian+++ family with a strong Czech influence. And I am German/French/Irish/Scotch and Syrian, my G-grandfather called me an A-rab....? I didn't get it either. Guest guest
Hi, Some of us are Aspies and some are self-diagnosed Aspies. This group tends NOT to have non-Aspies. You will find that sometimes AS is the primary topic of discussion, and other times, we just talk about anything that comes to mind like anyone else does. The topics here can be anything, but tend to focus on our perseverative interests...because where else are we going to be able to talk about them without boring people out of their minds. If you have any questions about AS, ask them, and we will answer as best we can. Be warned. Sometimes the group has only a few participants, but sometimes there can be a whole lot of people posting in a very short time. So if you don't get an immediate response, or if you get an overwhelming response, neither is particularly typical. Administrator Both good questions if you don't mind me saying so myself. Guest guest
My response seems to have been lost in cyber space, so there is a possibility that you will see two welcoming messages from me. Welcome to the group! Some of us here are diagnosed Aspies and some are self-diagnosed. You will find that participation here varies, sometimes with dozens of posts in a day, sometimes very few. Sometimes there are many participants, and sometimes we are in our own little worlds. We often talk about As, but we also talk about our perseverative interests. The result is that every day is a different experience. Ask any questions and we will answer them as best we can, drawing from our experiences. We are not medical professionals, though. You'd need to talk to one to get a diagnosis. Administrator Both good questions if you don't mind me saying so myself. Guest guest
Just wanted to add that if one of the tests you took was the Aspie Quiz, I can answer any questions you may have about that. I know the co-creator of that quiz personally. Administrator My response seems to have been lost in cyber space, so there is a possibility that you will see two welcoming messages from me. Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Javerzak! Self-diagnosed or diagnosed by an accredited and licensed medical pratitioner, learning about Asperger Syndrome is important. Even if turns out that you do not have AS yourself, you will meet people along the way in life who *do* have AS and the more you know about AS, the better you'll be able to understand how to interact effectively with Aspies. I don't post as often as I used to because my 14-year-old son (who also has AS) is wrestling with Myasthenia Gravis (an incurable, life threatening, debilitating rare and complex neuromuscular auto-immune disease that strikes 1 in 500,000 children). I do, however, oftentimes send links to news articles to the group Admin who then posts them here for others to read and share. I hope you find your time here enjoyable, educational and enlightening as well as welcoming. :-) Raven Co-Administrator
Guest guest
, that is quite possible because I wasn't happy with the first positive result which ultimately turned out to be part of the OKCupid.com website. You can find my profile there. I would like to retake the quiz, but I'm afraid of providing biased answers. I hate tests like that. Thank you for being willing answer questions. > > My response seems to have been lost in cyber space, so there is a possibility that you will see two welcoming messages from me. > > Welcome to the group! > > Some of us here are diagnosed Aspies and some are self-diagnosed. Guest guest
Gavin Pollard? I just took his quiz located at, http://aq.server8.org/ and scored a 37. But there was a few missed questions I think and a few of my answers I was second guessing as I hit the button. But my results are somewhat consistent with other test scores. I seem to be in the 30's. So be it, I think I have this gift. Later on, I might consult with professional opinion. Thanks again. > > My response seems to have been lost in cyber space, so there is a possibility that you will see two welcoming messages from me. > > Welcome to the group! > > Some of us here are diagnosed Aspies and some are self-diagnosed. Guest guest
Here was the AspieQuiz I was referring to: http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php thomas Administrator Re: 'Who Am I?' and 'What Am I doing here?' , that is quite possible because I wasn't happy with the first positive result which ultimately turned out to be part of the OKCupid.com website. Guest guest
I sent you a link to the quiz I was thinking of in another post. Here it is again just in case: http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php All of these quizes are self diagnostic things, so the results will be suggestive rather than valid. The way to look at the results is that you MAY be on the spectrum, and if it turns out, after getting evaluated by a physican, then the tests can be used as an indicator of personality traits. I am actually going to go to bed now, but will be checking the forum again tomorrow if all goes well. Administrator Re: 'Who Am I?' and 'What Am I doing here?' Gavin Pollard? Guest guest
I sort of have a professional DX of Asperger's in that one doctor said I probably was and I participated in a couple of studies. On this test I scored a 36. It probably would have been a point or two higher, but I misanswered a couple of questions. Gavin Pollard? Guest guest
I took the aspie quiz and this may come as no suprise but here is my score Thank you for filling out this questionnaire. Your Aspie score: 123 of 200 Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 92 of 200 You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits I think this is a likely outcome for many older females, developing coping mechanisms over a lifetime (depending on various experiences and I would expect to weigh more heavily on the aspie side as I age, but some of the questions were enlightening. Even questions that got an NT answer didn't for NT reasons they were simply reverse compulsions. (I wash clothing daily, and cannot wear anything twice) In the summer I may take as many as 3 showers (not entirely NT behavior) I also have a tendency to clean things other people might not, under things and in places people may not even notice, or I may clean something at another person's house if i am left alone or for nervous resons (ie Coping mechanisms learned over time) To funnel anxiety in a constructive way. I have been yelled at for cleaning my sister's and daughters things without permission (so I try to be careful that I can control anxiety and comfort myself without getting in too much hot water. But I liked this quiz Mimi
Guest guest
Thank you for sharing. In you telling me about you, I was learning about me. I guess by now I've developed coping mech's. It wasn't until I belonged to a fellowship and started working with a sponsor that a lot of my social quirkiness came to light. I've gotten better. But I have my little things. I noticed you have a thing for parentheses. Kind of funny because I would see you start with the left bracket and I couldn't find the matching right bracket...consistently. It's all good. I have a thing with the period of ellipsis '....' I want people to stop and think a bit...I guess...or maybe that's me, stopping and thinking....?... That's me....By-the-Way, I'm sure you've heard it a million times. You are welcome in my home for as long as there is dirt to clean. As a single-male woodcutter with two cats, one tabby and one long-hair living in a condo on a bug-infested lake, you won't have a problem channeling your anxiety in my place....Thanks Again...........J. > > > I took the aspie quiz and this may come as no suprise but here is my score > Thank you for filling out this questionnaire. > > Your Aspie score: 123 of 200 > Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 92 of 200 > You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits > > I think this is a likely outcome for many older females, developing coping mechanisms over a lifetime (depending on various experiences and I would expect to weigh more heavily on the aspie side as I age, but some of the questions were enlightening. Guest guest
It is very true, that I am lazy with grammar, and frightful at spelling; most of the time, and yes I want to contain words in a parenthesis, but I forget the second one. Good thing they can't diagnose my typed communication; that I am aware of or I am sure scatterbrain would have a richer fuller more robust meaning and it's own DSM on the books I tried not to use parenthesis, but I think I make even less sense without them Interesting insight, and I AM SURE after several strait days of cleaning you may grow tired of my compulsion or I may keel over (both have happened in my past) > > > > > > I took the aspie quiz and this may come as no suprise but here is my score > > Thank you for filling out this questionnaire. > > > > Your Aspie score: 123 of 200 > > Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 92 of 200 > > You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits > > > > I think this is a likely outcome for many older females, developing coping mechanisms over a lifetime (depending on various experiences and I would expect to weigh more heavily on the aspie side as I age, but some of the questions were enlightening.
