Guest guest
Hi, My name is Liz Cunninghame. I live in northwestern Marin, in the state of California. My e-mail address is clarksummitfarm@... My husband and myself want to milk a family cow and learn to make butter, yogurt and cheese. The ranch we live on has been in my family for 90 years. It was quite diversified in my Grandfather's day, with a nice Jersey herd. My Father started from scratch after the war and built a grade A barn and milked a small award winning herd of 100 Holsteins. We grew up on raw milk as our children have. The ranch has been left in my care and is as diversified now as it was in my grandfather's day, with the exception of the dairy. We are beginning our research on the possibility to sell raw milk in our state, which is possible with a permit. We are a long way off from that. We just want to enjoy the milk ourselves for now. We will have lots of questions for milking a small number of cows. We hope to someday market raw milk if the stumbling blocks are not too great to achieve this goal. I really miss the dairying I assisted my father with for over 35 years. Even with lots of experience I now feel like a newbie approaching it on a different scale, and with the responsibility and liability that accompanies the sale of raw milk. We are excited to be a part of this group. Liz & Dan
