Guest guest
has been on Clonidine since January and we started on 1/2 a pill then a month later moved to a full pill, then 1.5 and now we're on 2 pills a night at bedtime. This medicine is supposed to help with insomnia but since we've upped the dose, he has begun night terrors and pains while he sleeps. He is almost 4, 42lbs and very tall for his age. The dosage suggests it's appropriate for his age and size but now I'm considering either dropping it back to 1 pill or changing meds all together. His doctor told me yesterday to "wait it out" but honestly, the nights are so bad. Every night for the last week he has woken up every hour on the hour from 1:30AM on. We even filmed it last night to document that it is every hour ON THE HOUR and he is screaming and fighting and seems to be in pain. He's pooping fine, but he seems like his stomach hurts. The doctor tried to brush it off like that night terrors are common at his age, but this is a direct side effect of upping the meds, I know this. It's not at all something "normal" for him. She even asked me if he watches scary movies before bed. I wanted to be such a smart mouth like "yep, we watch Nightmare on Elm Street" a few times a week. The poor guy only watches Sprout or Baby Einstein. I'm at a loss. Does anyone know about this??? Thank you!Sheila 's Mommy
