I've posted a revised intro to the group. There's a little room left in

the 2,000-character limit, but that's largely earmarked for future

services, including an upcoming full-archive search feature and some other

web-based resources.

Comments are welcome, though I'll be the final arbiter of what goes up of

course, but please don't bother telling me to go back to the original

intro. I've received numerous complaints and requests for change from

people who found that the group was not at all accurately represented by

that intro. It was out of date, and it had to be changed. So it goes.

As there's already been a good amount of debate on the subject on the list,

I'd rather new comments and suggestions be sent to me privately to avoid

further cluttering people's in-boxes, but if you feel you really need to

discuss it further with everyone, go ahead.
