Often in this group, we get the question should I be on a special diet. And I often answer yes a healthy diet. One that contains green leafy vegetables.

And here is why that green leafy vegetables are going to help your liver. Because of Omega 3 fatty acids.

Omega 3 fatty acids are a natural anti-inflammatory. Foods that contain Omega 3 fatty acids are fish, shellfish, flaxseeds (linseed),hemp oil, sunflower seeds, green leafy vegetables, and walnuts.

Another way of getting the best bang for your healthy acids that your body needs is eat foods that are high in Alpha lipoic acids. Carrots, yams and sweet potatoes.

You can get Alpha Lipoic acid tablets at the health food stores, they come in dosages of 30-100 mg. tablets. The recommended dosage is 600 mg daily.

I would take 2-100 mg tabs-3 times a day rather than all at once.

There are probiotics that are beneficial for the liver and those are:

yogurt, kefir(made from goats milk),miso, buttermilk, wheatgrass, spirula, chloree and tempeh (soy product meant to replace meat.)

I am going to share something with you that most don't know or will share with you. The best way to get the value out of Alpha Lipoic acids, and Omega 3 fatty acids is through your diet.

Lets discuss digestion for that reason. Food eaten goes through the digestive system rather slowly and the body is able to digest and absorb the nutrients that we need. When we take capsules or pills very little of the nutrients are absorbed into the system. They just don't stay in the system long enough to benefit like absorbing your nurtients through food.

But having said that, a lot of people don't like certain food, say like carrots and it is better to take the capsules or pills than nothing at all.

I hope this helps you all in your quest for better health.

SincerelyJanet
