ACTION ALERT!

Your State Senator Needs to Hear From You TODAY!

SB 361, which would create the Early HOPE Scholarship for special needs, military, and foster children, is awaiting a vote before the state Senate. If the bill is not scheduled for a vote by Tuesday, it will be dead for the year.

Those opposed to giving families more educational options are making their opinions known. Now it's your turn to be heard.

Please take a few moments TODAY to call or email your state senator and tell them to join you in supporting SB 361 so that more Georgia kids can have access to an education that best fits their unique needs!

Here are some key facts about the bill:

Renames the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship for elementary, middle, and high school students with special needs the to "Georgia Early HOPE Scholarship"

Expands eligibility for a scholarship to:

· Children with a parent currently in the military on active duty, in the Reserves, or National Guard

· Section 504 students - Section 504 disabilities substantially limit major life activity, but may not directly affect learning. Examples include students in a wheelchair, students with a chronic illness, students with a heart condition, etc.

· Children who are or who have been in foster care

Early Hope Scholarships would allow students to attend the public or participating private school of their parents' choice.

To be eligible, students would need to be enrolled in a Georgia public school for one school year prior to receiving the scholarship.

Scholarship amounts are projected to range between $4,000 and $9,000 for military families. Those with special needs could receive more, based on the severity of their needs.

It is important that senators hear your voice TODAY!
