Guest guest
They throw around numbers but say nothing. They certainly don't want to tell the people that what will be hurt are the small business owners, farmers, etc. In other words, the people who create most of the jobs in this country and provide the food it eats are amongst those who will be hardest hit. The real rich either can shrug off the increase because they have such high income or can find ways not to pay. The rest of them can't afford the tax nor can they pay good enough accountants NOT to pay taxes. The government is only in this trouble because of the social programs. The the military, even with the wars, and the courts and some other legitimate government functions could easily be funded on far less than we are paying in taxes by now. Social programs account for better than half of federal spending. Without that, lower taxes, much less illegal immigration, and sensible regulations, millions more people would be employed now, beyond what we have lost to exporting jobs, which is another issue.
