Guest guest
Building up the Afghan army is foolish. It is still a tribal culture with no history of loyalty to a nation or a national army. There is no history of a professional NCO class and officers are just "nobles" or strong men usually with no real ability. The Afghan troops might do OK if foreign troops are with them, but on their own, not so much. What will probably happen when we leave is that the army will fall apart in the face of a real enemy, the Taleban, with many joining up with the Taleban. Odd as it sounds, changing sides like that is a part of Afghan military tradition and was common during the Russian occupation. In a message dated 7/14/2010 2:26:30 P.M.
