Hi Deborah,I drank ensure (or shall I say Walmart brand for it's cheaper). But ensure has a lot of vitamins and calories (like 300 to the little bottle) and it is not bad tasting and you could drink it down in 3 big swallows. That helped me tremendously from not loosing 30lbs again. SheilaTo:

I started treatment on Friday, March 12. I made it through the flu-like symptoms. My appetite is not good due to nausea. Does Copegus cause nausea? I get a headache and fatigue about an hour after taking Copegus

I know I need to eat to help fight fatigue.

Do you have suggestions for food besides crackers? I am sick of crackers already! I am going to the grocery store today. I need something that is nutritious. Crackers are not!

Yes, nausea & poor appetite can be a common side effect. Ginger/ginger tea supposedly helps with nausea. Remember to drink plenty of water. Try eating small portions, but eat more frequently. Many of the foods I enjoyed and ate regularly were intolerable during treatment. I went from whole grain cereals to cream of wheat or white toast and tea. The only cheese that didn't turn my stomach was brie. I couldn't stomach 'Ensure', but enjoyed Carnation Instant Breakfast. I used a lot more butter than I normally do. Not great for cholesterol, but apparently fats help with absorbing (?) the meds. And you shouldn't be taking your meds on an empty stomach. Chicken & turkey were more tolerable than other meats. I made fruit smoothies often and a Jamba Juice was a treat. The point is that you need to eat to keep your strength up so try experimenting with different foods, small amounts at a time. If the nausea is preventing you from eating, call your Doc. Hope this helps and hope the nausea subsides!Leigh I started treatment on Friday, March 12. I made it through the flu-like symptoms. Try some kind of soup. Proteins, green vegetables. whole grain breads. If you are having trouble getting anything down then anything you can get down get. If nothing else ensure, yogurts, avoid red meats. Good luck As for the nausea , fatigue and headache I think that it could cause it. Also if you aren't eating much that could help cause it too. Also you could try some gatoraide.Hugs

Maybe Don Terri or Pam would have more information than I do on this. I haven't been through it yet just read everything I could on it.

Oh yeah know what you are talking about. I lost 10 lbs in one weeks time. Not that I didn't need to lose it. I have a few extra lbs that I can lose just don't like lossing them that way. Yes, it is the Copegus that cause the nausea.

Like one of the other member said, ginger tea or ginger ale help alot. I buy diet ginger ale by the 2 liter bottles, usually enough to last till next payday. Do not like to be without my ginger ale. I sip it slowly when I am sick at my stomach.

Someone suggested smoothies, Oh that is a great idea. I got one the other day when I was feeling ill at the grocery store. Kept me from being embrassed by throwing up in the store. I just sat down and slowly sipped it. It helped a lot.

Soups, broths and noodles are tolerable to me when nothing elses sounds good.

Good luck hon, I am half way though 48 weeks. We will come out of this victorious!!

Love

When I was fighting nausea the thing that helped me most was those over the

counter sea sick pills. I spent my life on research ships and never got sea sick

once but the pills sure helped with my ascites nausea. May help your's too. Just

an idea is all. Butch
