" I think this will be the most likely option, but I also think the US would knock out as many defensive installations as it could " as a precautionary measure " to level the playing field in the Middle East a bit more. But let's remember, Syria and Iran have a pact. If one is struck by the US, both will respond. Thus a large troop presence in the area may be necessary to deal with unexpected events.
