Have you tried ABA therapy? That usually seems to work well for children. Carolyn Wall "Fair doesn't mean everybody gets the same thing. Fair means that everybody gets the same

need advice for coping with behaviors

Hi Everyone,

I dont check in here very often but it's definitely time I reach out so I will try to be a better group member.

I have five kids ranging in age from ten down to 18 months and its my seven year old (third child) who has autism. I am at my wits end.

As he's gotten older his behavior has become more and more unmanageable. He dumps out everything he can find that comes in a bottle and he destroys things constantly. He moves faster than we can watch him. He does not know how to play, so, rather than play with toys, he simply destroys them, as well as anything else that comes in his path.

Can anyone give me pointers or suggestions based on experience as to how to manage this?

Thanks so much.

oh yes, since he was two! He gets it daily but not on weekends. So far it has

not helped change his in-home behaviors. Its been worse since school's out

(lack of structure) and heat outside!

I teach in Fayette Co. The behavior specialist makes home visits. Can you call them?Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerrySender: autism-georgia Date: Sun, 01 Aug 2010 23:54:38 -0000To: <autism-georgia >ReplyTo: autism-georgia Subject: Re: need advice for coping with behaviors the school has never addressed in-home behaviors. In school they strap him to his seat (!).Theres also just a different kind of structure there than at home and also 2:1 ratio that we dont have at home.>> What does the school do or is this new since the summer?> Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry> > need advice for coping with behaviors> > Hi Everyone,> I dont check in here very often but it's definitely time I reach out so I will try to be a better group member. > > I have five kids ranging in age from ten down to 18 months and its my seven year old (third child) who has autism.
