Pineapple chutney and pineapple vinegar

I've just made the pineapple chutney from NT. It

doesn't really taste very nice, and it's not so much

chutney as chunks of pineapple floating on top of a

lot of fluid. Have others experienced this?

I have scooped out the solids and put in a separate

jar, but I haven't chucked away the liquid yet, I

thought I might just be able to drink it, if it's good

for me!

What do others think of the taste? I find it rather

soapy. I wouldn't want to ruin my dinner with it to

be honest.

Has anyone made the pineapple vinegar? That's another

failure. I now have 2L of very weak overripe

pineapple flavoured water, with a hint of oregano.

euch! Don't think I'll manage to drink that! I never

managed to get my head around what I would do with 2L

of pineapple vinegar anyway.

Thanks for any help

Jo

I made the pineapple vinegar a couple of weeks ago, and you are right it is very

weak. There is a recipe also in NT for Latin American sauerkraut that calls for

the pineapple vinegar. I'm going to try it when we get back from vacation. It

calls for a lot of it, so my guess is that it is good that it is weak. I'll let

you know how it goes.

Hi Sherrie,

I made the Latin American sauerkraut with the pineapple vinegar

several years ago and it was not to my liking. I finally threw it

out. I hate to throw out food, but it was so odd I never coud get

used to it. Maybe it's an acquired taste!
