Guest guest
> E-yikes! It sounds like grandparents have more rights than parents! Hi Carol, Only in Canada, eh? Actually only in BC (my province) and one or two others. I don't know which boneheaded government changed the laws, but I suspect it was the NDP...really undermines your faith in socialist governments <grin>. I find it hard to fathom how grandparents can be given the right to run roughshod over the wishes of the parents. The only alternative I can see to court-ordered access is to move out of state or out of province. > > I'm sick just thinking about how things would have been when my 8 year > old daughter (D) was sexually abused by mother's brother (J) during D's > annual summer visit to mother's house 400 miles away. > I can't imagine what I would have done if the court system had forced me > to allow my daughter to spend time with mother alone! I hope your daughter recovered from the trauma of that experience. Doug

Just live in Canada for 10 or 15 years and you'll start to get used to it! 30 km is about a 25 minute highway ride in light traffic. Usually it's about a 45 minute drive in my neck of the woods. Guest guest
> Hi Doug, > > What an incredible mess. Even hearing about legal involvement makes > my stomach churn. Yes, it makes us very upset also. Nada says she wants access on Xmas, but she took off to Palm Springs this Xmas so where exactly are her priorities? Power, domination and control, that's where. > > In my divorce settlement I got custody of my younger son and visiting > rights with the older son. My younger son visited his mother > regularly, and each time he came back with brainwashing that made > life with him very difficult. The potential for brainwashing is one of our our greatest concerns. One time nada said that my son would grow up to " hate me " . Will she work to ensure this? But I never once was able to see my > older son. My lawyer dismissed it, saying if he didn't want to see > me there was nothing I could do. That's very unfortunate and must hurt a great deal. I can't imagine what it must be like. If my son turned against me it would be like losing my reason for living. However, if my son formed that attitude toward his grandnada it would work in our favour. Already he's not keen on spending an entire weekend with a 78-year-old. > Maybe you could play this card. Just fail to have a " mutual > agreement " about visiting, and see if the thing is enforceable. Hmmm....I'll think about that one. I don't believe that she motivated only by a desire to see her grandson, but also to hurt us. > > As to blackmail, the only reason it works is shame. Besides, her attempt to > blackmail you might make her look pretty bad in court. LOL! She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named! I think that is an excellent way to refer to her. But yes, I understand what you're saying. I know how provocative nada is and how good she is at pushing buttons. I know that around her I have difficulty managing my anger. And she is using shame as a manipulation tool as she has so many times in the past. Fortunately I've broken free of much of that. My wife and I might consult with our attorney again. Guest guest
Have you checked here, Deborah? http://www.liverconsultants.com/ Subject: Opinions? To: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Thursday, December 10, 2009, 7:29 AM Good Morning Everyone, I am having difficulty making decisions on what to do as far as treatment. My genotype is 3A and viral load is 153,000. I am not pleased with my doctor and plan on getting a second opinion. Do you need a liver biopsy in order to start treatment? I have read that 3A's have more instances of cirrhosis. I don't drink and eat very healthy. I take care of myself for the most part. Does anyone know of a good doctor in the DFW area of Texas? I prefer Fort Worth if possible. -- Deborah

Guest guest
Hi Deborah, Please let me know if you find someone in the DFW area. I went to one several yrs ago ---and hated him--can't even remember his name. I do alternative supplements and stay current on all my liver tests. I have an appt in Waco on Monday and will see how that goes. I've had liver disease since before 1966 (just diagnosed as liver disease then)--diagnosed as HepC in 1999. I had a biopsy in 2000. I was 66 then and was only in early stage 2, geno 1b. My doctor (in Palm Springs Ca) advised against treatment then and no doctor since has even suggested treatment. This may be a unique eperience, but it is generally " Your liver is still fine. Come back in 6 to 9 months and we will check your labs again. " It is very important that you get ALL the info you can about Hep C before making the decision to treat or not to treat. Many on this forum treat and I really like the people here. I,also, visit some alternative forums to see what others are doing. I use Dr Bert Berkson's protocol to keep my liver healthy. It does NOT cure or put the virus in remission, but his protocol helps heal the liver and keep the virus under control. You can look him up on the internet or let me know and I will send info direct. I. personally, believe that a biopsy should be done to determine current liver damage before making any decision about treatment. Generally, you have time to make your decision as this is generally a slow moving disease. However, Hep C seems to be just a little different for everyone. Also, there are some treatments in clinical trials that seem to work much better and in a shorter time than what we currently have---SOOOO---the decision to treat may be done several times. In the meantime taking Dr B's supplements can help your liver as you decide. They are not expensive. They are over the counter. A good diet, no drinking, not taking meds that hurt your liver, etc will help you maintain while you decide what you want to do. Good luck with the new Doctor and let me know--I live down near Hillsboro just off I-35. Guest guest
SuziQ, Here are 3 doctors that I found in Fort Worth. I transferred all my records over to Dr. Sotman. He will review and then schedule an appointment. The first doctor has openings in March. That is who i wanted to see but I can't wait that long. I talked to Dr. Sotman's receptionist and nurse yesterday. They were very helpful and informed. Much better than Dr. Bass's office. I am not allowing anyone to use me as a guinea pig so to speak. Guest guest
Thanks Deborah, Dr Deas is the doctor I got so mad at. He did endoscopy and colonoscopy on me. He had a student (or someone) watching the procedure. I donot know what happened, but I woke up during colonoscopy. He told the person who was with me that I required extra anesthesia--probably because I had used drugs WHAT ???--over 40 years ago???? I think he was just talking and explaining to that other person. Of course, I was charged and had to wait a year to finish the procedure because of insurance rules about paying for it only once a year. I have had several colonoscopys and other procedures with no problems. I felt like he was putting blsme on me for waking up during the procedure. I was furious !! I hate prepping for those darn things. I liked his PA well enough. Don't remember seeing him, but the one time for the procedure. It was before I knew about alternative supplements. She just said " Come back in a year " . Treatment was not even discussed. Had a doctor in Dallas I dearly loved (can't remember his name), but I changed insurance and he didn't take the new one. He also did not suggest treatment. HMO's do not extend down into Hill County so my insurance here pays for less. I am on Medicare at 75, but could not pay 20% of med care so need a supplement. I'm really not a doctor person as I am rarely sick. Hope the new doctor is one you like and trust. Let us know. Thanks again for the info !!!!
