Dairy, preferably fermented, is, as far as I know and according

to The Weston A. Price Foundation, a good source of vitamin A,

or more precisely retinol.

Eggs, butter, eel, and tuna fish.

Wow, that's crazy, but that's exactly what hapened to me! I tried the

anti-candida diet to see if my tongue would clear up (white coating),

and after just a day I wound up getting sick to my stomach and

throwing up every time I tried to drink or eat. I was convinced that

it was a die off reaction (especially since I still have mercury

fillings in my mouth, which I heard can cause candida problems as well

as die off symptoms), but at the hospital they seemed to think I was

crazy for even suggesting that. They never did figure out what was

wrong with me. My tests all came back perfectly. If it wasn't

candida die off then maybe it was a viral thing or food poisoning, but

I doubt it. I think sugar in all forms (natural sweetners included)

can really cause havoc with your system. And I think dairy also does

a number on me. It's funny though. Now that I stopped eating honey

and maple syrup, I don't have as many cravings for sweet things. In

fact, I'm much happier eating fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, nuts and

fish. The only thing I have yet to give up is pancakes made with

chestnut flour (which I still crave, but I'm sure I'll eventually have

to give those up too since chestnuts are high in carbs).

Sorry for the rambling, but this is all so new and exciting to me.

Joanne, I don't think vitamin A has anything to do with your spots,

if that's what you imply. In my case it seems if I eat unfermented

dairy, I get various skin problems, including spots; but not when I

consume certain fermented dairy products in moderate quantities.

The only dairy I consume nowadays is my own yoghurt and fermented

butter. I get no apparent problems from them, except when I overdo

it. Then I get dandruff, perhaps pressure in the head or a slight

headache, and perhaps even some hair loss. This happens to me even

when I eat too much liver or eggs. That's a sign of overconsumtion

of vitamin A.

Eel is extremely rich in both vitamin A and vitamin D. Perhaps

you can order it. It's delicious in my opinion. Have you ever

eaten it?

What's GF. Grain free?
