Guest guest
I've seen that. This one was probably caused by a broken sewer pipe and other drains. However, big sinkholes, sometimes called cenotes, are common in the region both on shore and off, though they also appear around the world. These are usually formed when water eats it way up through stone such as sandstone and limestone, until there is but a thin roof left. Eventually that roof will collapse revealing a deep hole.
