W.Va. teacher pleads to battery on 11-year-old

A teacher has pleaded guilty to battery for her handling of an 11-year-old

autistic child at Sherrard Middle School last fall.

Pamela of Cameron must pay a $500 fine and court costs. Another charge

was dropped in exchange for her plea Friday in Marshall County Magistrate Court.

A complaint said the boy refused to take a seat and tried to remove his pants,

kicking and biting.

put the boy's hand in his mouth to prevent biting, then smacked his

bottom and put her hand on his forehead to push him into a wall.

Attorney McCoid says his client is remorseful, and that she lost control

for a moment.

He says she never intended to harm the boy, just control him.

is on medical leave through the rest of the school year.
