Guest guest
Hi Cindee~ I'm so sorry you've been feeling invisible! I get that way sometimes, too. I'm afraid I'm a culprit, though. Since I don't post except on weekends, I sometimes just answer what I have time for and though I read each and every post, I don't always reply as much as I should. Please don't leave! I would miss you a lot! As for my workout routine, I do lower weights with higher repetitions because I want to lose weight as well as build muscle. For you, I would suggest bringing the weight higher and not worrying about doing as many reps. The higher weight will help build the muscles without having as much cardio action. When you do low weights with high reps, it's almost like doing cardio. I hope this helps! Hugs and love! Guest guest
Hi Cindee, I don't exercise much. I did go for a bike ride with my daughter the other day. The only exercise I get is at the college. I briskly walk to class and it takes me about 15 minutes. I intentionally park in the furthest lot so I can walk because I hate to exercise. I love to eat though, hence the need to have the surgery -- Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirthis heaviness. Proverbs 13:14 -------------- Original message -------------- From: CaudilloFire@... Hey Woman, Good to hear from you too! Thanks for saying hello! I was starting to feel invisible here! I thought all week about leaving the group, but your post made me decide to stay, for awhile longer at least! Thanks for noticing what I had to say! I am curious about anyone else here who works out - how DO you tone mucles without loosing weight? Examples of workout routines would be wonderful! Right now I am keeping things REALLY easy - They have an amazing machine that stretches the muscles and I can start out with it to loosen up easily, and it also eases that nagging pain in my lower back and right hip that the scoliosis causes. I start out with 10 minutes on the treadmill, then I do a complete circuit of all of the machines working out each set of muscles, keeping them at low weights and just 10 repetitions set at a low weight of 35 pounds for now, then I end with another 10 minutes on the treadmill. That keeps my daily workout to just over an hour and that is just enough to feel it, but not to wear me out either. I have not changed the way I eat at all, If anything I seem to be hungrier after a workout and eat more carbs then before. I am just not really thrilled at the thought of dropping pounds, I would like to stay right where I am, and just tighten things up! I know I WILL burn some fat and replace it with muscle, and that my clothes will probably get looser so I have sworn off buying ANY new clothes for a while! Right now my daughter is one size smaller than me so we agreed that if we both drop a size due to working out, she can have all my clothes and I will get new ones! What are you doing for cardio? I can't handle aerobics, unless it is in the water, my joints just can't take the beating! But the treadmill is great and the elliptical and the recumbant bike are as well......any ideas on good Cardio workouts that don't beat the joints to death? Good luck on your goals Tracey! Keep me informed, and let me know how it goes and how you are progressing! HUGS! Cindee Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. -- Hebrews 13:
Guest guest
I got spanked for discussing protein, so I will leave that one for Dr.K only. lol I only sleep about five hours each night, but that is basically my choice. I am so busy I don't want to sleep. When did protien become the enemy? Striving to eat protien is not going to hurt your weightloss and will keep your health up. When you get out 2- 4 years and dont need as many calories to maintain you weight the best things to cut out are carbs and fats- empty calories. Eating/drinking protien is not bad for you. It may keep you from getting anemic, or any of the other hazards we malabsorbers face when we get further out from our surgery. I think that if you are concentrating on your protien, and then adding other foods, taking your supplements and exercising, you will be fine. If you are not, well that is your choice, and you may pay later, but perhaps not. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who can eat whatever and do whatever and never have any consequences. I prefer to err on the safe side. I am 4 years out and still strive for protien. Yes, I am one of the wackos who drinks a protien shake in the morning. Yes, I add big train mocha mix to it (sugar free) and (oh my goodness), milk too. Yes, I over kill the protien. I eat chicken/ tuna (read protien) for lunch and dinner. No, I didnt get skinny.... No I didnt get to be the size 12 I wanted. My shirts are med/small, my pants are 14s. I am a healthy woman, and havent had any lab problems since surgery. I am healthy, and I intend to stay this way. Bottom line....I intend to stay healthy. I have to much to do, and to much to see to be sick, or even take the chance on getting sick. You need to do what is best for you. But I still believe that you should concentrate on protien first. Then eat whatever breads, pasta, vegetables, whatever, you can tolerate. thats my 50 cents worth....what you do with it is up to you. love to you all Sharon in Onyx (who was at the meeting when Dr K was discussing this) now I am going back to lurkdom before you all beat me up again...lol 12-21-01 345lbs highest 185 lbs lowest (for 30 seconds) 195lbs average now 5'4 " 50 years old and loving it! Guest guest
Thank you Marla! As to your protein question, yes, at 11 months you really should be getting all the protein in by that time. The secret is to always concentrate on protein first, then eat what you still have room for. Protein drinks help. Hugs! Tracey > > What wonderful pictures you have in your album.
