Guest guest
Mel, Questran works by locking up bile, right? something else coats, like Pepto bismol and carafate. > __________________ > > Marta, > What about the med that coats the lining of the intestine. Guest guest
I told her that if someone was giving a shot that > caused weight loss, he'd be shouting it out loud and making a fortune ========================= Mel Here in CA (for several years now)...there are some diet Doctors that give shots. I have had several relatives/friends go on it. Part of the shots are B12. Part are one of the Phens of fen-phen. Another one uses B12 and " something that makes you gain weight if you eat wrong " lol...that is how much the folks know about what they are doing. Bottom line....every single person lost weight. Every single person gained weight back the minute they went off the shots. 6 people I know were on the shots, lost weight, gained back more weight..has now had GB or DS. Wanna hear something crazy?? The person who had DS after regaining weight from the shots is currently paying for her son and daughter- in-law to be on the shots...CRAZY! But it shows what a monster obesity is. If your sister tries going on the shots...it still requires her to eat differently. And if she doesn't CONTINUE to eat less and the correct kinds of foods the weight will come back on with FRIENDS. Also...like with everything else...I have seen folks lose alot of weight on the shots and I have seen them lose only the slightest amount. It depends on how strict they were on following the recommended diet, but the shots alone did not make the weight come off. hugs Jo
Guest guest
Mel, I agree with this totally. I actually did it myself. I went on the B-12 shots, they claimed that was supposed to give us more energy in order to exercise. Then to that they added a diet pill, I think some type of vitamins (maybe, not quite sure though) and almost always some water pills. This costed an extreme amount of money and it wasn't very effective. You had to go atleast once a week to get the B-12 injections and the other things that you took was only like once a month. However, you couldn't just hop in your car and head down there when it was most convienient for you, that would be too easy. No, this was a clinic type thing. They were only open a few days a week, for a few hours each day. That means that if you didn't get there early enough, you had a looooonnnngggg line to wait in. They did give us a diet to go by, but I'm sorry I don't remember it. I lost a few pounds, I have to admit, and it felt great. However, I GAINED it back, with quite a few pounds hooked to it. Jo, was so very right about that one. You know what else??? They have no type of support system. It's like they herd you into a room like a bunch of cattle, take your weight, give you your B-12 injection and then if you need your medication they give you that and then THEY WANT YOUR MONEY. That's it! They are not very personable, they don't wanna carry on a conversation. It seems like as far as they are concerned your basically a human ATM machine. Anyhow, I hope this helps. Sorry, if I went overboard. If you have any more questions just ask. Love, Dani Jo wrote: I told her that if someone was giving a shot that > caused weight loss, he'd be shouting it out loud and making a fortune ========================= Mel Here in CA (for several years now)...there are some diet Doctors that give shots. You know we are behind most of the country in fads, so I guess this one is making the rounds. I remember when people were putting staples in their ears to lose weight when I was in my teens and 20's. Guest guest
I was given Questran along with Flagyl for severe colitis from C-diff. It didn't seem to be any different than taking just Flagyl. in WA
Guest guest
Mel, you are correct that Questran would not go down the bile channel. As for the shots, I haven't heard anything about a reputable shot for losing weight. I hear lots of rip-off stories, however. I really don't know what they are talking about. Marta The Sharon(My sis) told me a lady at the hospital was taking shots > that were originally used for diabetes, 2 times a day and was losing weight > with them. Any clue to what the heck they could be talking about?

Comes in a multi dose vial and most pharmacies carry it. Just get a doc to prescribe 1 cc every week or month as needed. I have given tons of them in home health and used to give my own when I was first diagnosed with b 12 deficiency. you can order it online from Canada for about 14 dollars for 10 doses. It isn't prescription in Canada. At Walgreen's 30 cc (30 doses) are right at 11 dollars. CYANOCOBALAMIN 1000MCG/ML INJ 30ML $10.

As long as you stick with the deltoid (arm muscle) or the thigh if your not too chunky there, it should get you to the muscle. Guest guest
Hey Mel, Sorry about the misunderstanding. I didn't know that you were an RN, don't I feel stupid. I don't want anymore injections of any sort, trust me. I was at the doctor again today and they wanted some more of my blood. Any advice on Bladder Infections and Yeast Infections??? Or does anyone else have any advice??? I guess my Urologist hasn't been doing his job (I just got a new one, the old one is FIRED!!!). My new Urologist told me that I have a severe bladder infection and that it seems like I've had it for a long time. He also said that I have an on-set of a Yeast Infection, not that it won't get worse after I get done taking the Bactrim. Anyhow, sorry again about the misunderstanding, Mel. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Dani __________________________ No Dani, You were clear ...I was being sarcastic. Strange sense of humor. But I have signed a few checks like that over the years. (Habit) I graduated high school in 1982 and from nursing school in 1985 and worked Until 1999. I was forced to quit after a car wreck and a 15 pound lifting restriction. My advice about bladder is the most common and easiest thing to do. Drink water like a fish! Also avoid soft drinks(That one is hard for me) And tea as much as possible. Cranberry juice helps, It does something that stops bacteria in the lining of the bladder. The water flushes out the bad stuff, I do know some people who suggest a beer when the bladder is inflamed to flush the kidneys, But I'm not sure clinically how much this helps. A local urologist used to suggest this, A friend knew a family where the 8 yr old kid was told to drink 1/2 with lunch and 1/2 with supper. Said it helped but embarassed them when the kid went to the fridge and started drinking his dinner beer when the preacher came to eat...LOL. Lots of explaining.... As for yeast infections, Monistat is the easiest and easiest to get. Then a doc can prescribe diflucan, the one time pill. Antibiotics always give me yeast, so I start with yougurt the same day, Lately I just ask for the 2nd prescription instead of waiting and start it 3 days into the antibiotics. I have heard some people who actually spread yogurt on their affected parts Non sweetened. But I think that's yucky....LOL. Buttermilk and all the good bacteria stuff helps too. keep lots of good bacteria in your body. Treating it as soon as symptoms start is good to, don't let it get real bad. Vagisil helps with itching, But doesn't treat the cause. Hope this helps you. I don't know everything but have learned a few tricks in my life....LOL.
