Guest guest
I do best when I drink milk alone. I doubt drinking milk, raw or not, would enhance the digestion of anything... although I suppose there is an instance of anything out there. I particularly avoid starches with my milk. Milk and potatoes is a no-no for me. But I also find that just about any food can give me digestive trouble in combo with milk, such as meat, etc. However, I also find that if I drink a small enough quantity (a glass, say), I am much less likely to have problems. Likewise, if I drink a large enough quantity (just around a half gallon is my limit, but sometimes a little less), especially before bed, I will get bloated and sometimes get diarrhea. I find that while milk is very healthful, it is still one of the things I am most sensitive too, even raw. I can drink it and benefit from it, but I can't drink it recklessly. Guest guest
Actually, raw milk is not nearly as good for the digestion as fermented milk products like keifer. I think even Sally says that in general, plain ol' raw milk is inferior to a fermented product. OTOH, sometimes a gorgeous glass of sweet raw milk is fantastic--especially with dessert, as you point out. I consider hot cocoa a " treat " food, but I do make it every once in awhile. Recipe: in a large glass put a T. or 2 of cocoa, some maple syrup, and some heavy cream. Whisk this together until smooth. Then add milk to the glass, stirring all the while. YUMMMMM. Personally, I like this with popcorn that has butter, salt, and nutritional yeast on it (don't ask me why...) Unhomoginized, pasteurized milk will be superior to regular milk, but it should be grass fed and from heirloom cows (i.e. not holsteins). -- If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. Because buttery salty popcorn (the kind where you wipe the excess butter and salt out of the bowl with the last few kernels) and chocolate milk are one of the most glorious food combinations created since our tree-swinging days ... Peanut M & M's? Why bother with peanuts, they just distract (detract?) from the chocolate. MFJ Everything connects. The Universe is not THAT chaotic.
