First off, the president can't give jobs like that. Second, articles and studies are saying that even if the economy comes back, millions of jobs won't be. This is in large part due to millions of manufacturing jobs going overseas to China and other countries. That is not what Free Trade was supposed to do when Adam and others explained the idea. It was supposed to be trade between roughly equals, which today would be US, Canada, Europe and some Asian nations. The idea would be that each area would make the things it is best able to on a relatively level playing field regarding things like wages, tariffs and other things. That's not saying all has to be equal, but if one nation pays its workers a pittance and pegs its currency low to help it undercut other nations, that's unfair and should have been addressed long ago. At the very least, high tariffs should have been applied to all good from those nations to equalize things, not to mention how many counterfeit goods they ship over here and theft of intellectual property from computer programs, entertainment, and even heavy machinery.
