in a few relevant terms. Then again there are times when I can't find

anything I'm looking for. With ann I had to have some background or I would not

have known who it was. It was back when my Phone died and all my numbers were

in

the phone book of the other phone.

Has anyone talked to Ann lately?

Marta, agreed...I'm on a couple of BB's I've been on for years and

people don't understand why I don't mind having my picture taken when

we gather in 3-D...but I won't post it online and ask them not to do

so. Or my last name or my occupation or last place of employment or

husband's last place of employment or his fisrst name or daughter's

name and so on.

It's becaue I have a long-time stalker who is more of a pain than a

danger...I hope. But you'd think after the first five or ten years,

he'd get the hint. But, no. Not THIS Bozo. How about almost THIRTY

years? The calls dropped dramatically when he retired (I guess he

didn't want his new wife asking about them) and even more so when he

moved out of town. But every once in a while, he's IN town and

somebody lets him near a phone and " all he wants to do " is see me or

talk to me...so I'm not providing that " pleasure " for him. Ergo, the

caller ID screening on our phone, too.

AND, MARTA!!! It isn't one of the *prisoners* from where I worked long

ago...it's one of the ones with a badge and gun.

Stay cautious!!

Sue, thanks for the reminder. I wear my ring all the time and say " my

husband " frequently. I do not hang out with the officers. Not all the

scary people are behind the bars, I have observed that. Anyway, my

home addy is for sale on the internet, I saw it myself. ALso, that is

why my credit report is absolute crap: I left it that way on purpose

since it might make finding me more difficult, not to mention stealing

my ID, well, it ain't worth stealing! lol

Yeah...it's tough to make yourself invisible. If you own property,

it's even more difficult. You have to make your trust (because we all

have one, right?) the owner of the property and make the name of the

trust a little more obscure...like it doesn't start out with your

name. But when you get down to having to worrying about people who

have access to DMV records, I guess we're all stuck with Rented

Mailboxes or something.

Telemarketers - or more specifically, those who sell to them.

One easy way to get less junk mail when you move is DO NOT put in a

change of address with the post office. They are the biggest

offenders when it comes to selling your information. Yes, it's

true! My husband and I get only the catalogs and magazines we WANT

to receive.

We rarely, if ever, get telemarketing calls because we never give

out our phone number to businesses unless it's absolutely required

(by the way, you don't have to give your number when you use your

credit card), and we use the " disconnected " tone at the beginning of

the message on our answering machine. Since most telemarketers use

computers to dial, the computer hangs up and notes our number

as " not in service " before it ever gets to the message itself.

Tracey,

I have the phone tray, I downloaded from the Internet. You can put

certain #'s in and when they ring you can set them to hang up. You can add a

message. With mine, unknowns answer after the first ring and get a message with

a

loud God-like voice(the one from 10 commandments) says " you shall not

pass! " ....I also like it because you can set a quiet time and it will pick up

any

call. It also come in handy with a teenaged daughter when some idiot girl got

mad and was cussing out because her boyfriend called .I just put

her name in and it picked up and hung up. Didn't take too long for the calls

to stop. Then she tried to *67 and call and same thing! It was funny.
