LOL, now you got me wanting bacon! GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Yes Hormel makes a low sodium bacon. I have been buying the sweet cured

bacon that isn't so salty and slightly sweet. I would love a good BLT, But it's

a

little early for good vine ripe tomatoes. I have found out that I am very

picky about my mayo now, Nothing but Kraft or Blue plate and stock up when it's

on sale. Good thing it's BBQ season and that stuff is on sale.

I went through a period where I ate corn on the cob last year, and ate

corn ever meal. This year it was strawberries until the diarrhea made my butt

bleed(sorry for the graphic detail). We found the strawberry farm and

actually picked our own....(lots cheaper that way) Usually my cravings involve

fresh

fruit or veggies in some way which is good as long as the stuff is in

season. Right now it's a good time to have the fresh veggie and fruit

craving....LOL. I love cheerios but for some reason cereal lies heavy on my

stomach and

I usually throw up...Wonder why? I also wonder why I never lose weight when

my addiction is corn or salads, but on the other hand don't gain when I'm

eating tons of eggs scrambled in butter with toast and butter. Thank God,

without

this surgery I'd be over 400 now.

You know, I can't remember never being a WLS of some sort and wondered

if it was a WLS thing or a food addict thing....I guess I'm not alone.

Well, ya'll know I go from one food addiction to another. How else did

I get to the point where I needed the DS? There was the Starbucks

coffee addiction- that was a long running one. And there was the salad

addiction. And the Jack n the Box tacos. And now I am addicted to

bacon. I have even gotten out of bed in the middle of the night to cook

bacon! Yep, I am insane.

Listen folks, hit Costo and get their precooked bacon. 30-60 seconds in the

microwave and it's ready (well, it's ready out of the package if you like

cold bacon). It's marvelous. It's about $10 for 50 pieces but there is no

shrinkage so you really get your money's worth!

Also, drop the margarine! Go for the butter. The chemicals in margarine make

it 100 times worse than anything butter can do for you. I was a margarine

person until I took chemistry two years ago and learned what horrible crap

margarine is.

I have been playing with fire and eating rhubarb sauce, yummy! It is

the food highest in oxalates, according to my memory. Well, kidney

stones here I come! Nah, remember last fall when I did lithotripsy in

my spa? I have been flank pain free so months. In fact, I forgot all

about that pain I used to have until just now.

Why did I plant a rhubarb root knowing I was at risk of kidney stones

as a DS patient? Dunno. LIke to live dangerously, I guess.

Hey Cindee,

Yeah they do have reduce sodium bacon. We've bought it for quite a while. I

believe around here the brand is Bar-S. There are probably several different

brands though. Goodluck!

Love ya,

does sonic have good BLT's? I might have to go there. They have a special of

tea and a BLT for 2.99 and I will be alone tomorrow at lunch, Hate to cook

when I'm alone. Speaking of sonic, Have you ever tried their ultimate tots? It

has chili, onions, ranch dressing, and jalapenos. Yummmmmy! It's a meal in

it's self.

I might have to go find me something to eat too. The bacon is frozen and

no tomatoes, Oh well, guess it will be eggs and toast again....LOL. BTW, Do

you guys find you eat more at night than in the daytime? I'd rather eat at

midnight than noon. Always have. I read that some people have a disorder where

they eat more at night and almost nothing in the daytime. It describe me to a

tee. I bet I consume 85% of my calories/food after 9pm. I always have.

For the last several months I've been addicted to Tomatoes. I buy

them in bulk from Costco. A midsized tomato that is still connected

to the vine (the tomatoes name starts with a " C " ) God those are good

tomatoes. I take 4-6 chop them up, salt and pepper like a crazed

woman and chow down. I do this 2-4 times a day! I can't get enough.

For the locals...if you want a killer BLT you gotta go to 's

Burger. They put enough bacon on it for 3-4 normal sandwiches. I eat

them often. And...'s Burger serves PEPSI!...lol...very important

to this junkie!

Dunno, Mel, but I was hungry for chips today. Didn't eat any,

however. I ate popcorn instead.

Oh, strawberries are another food high in oxalates. lol Rhubarb is

very tart. THe stems are eaten, trim off the leaf and the root. The

stems should be moist and tender, not woody. The ones I see here in

the grocery stores are always too mature and woody, that is why I grew

my own. They don't like the heat so it is growing under the roof where

it only gets morning light, outside Tylar's old bedroom. It loves it

there. Maybe all the bird poop is helping, too, lol. Yuck.

You have to put alot of sugar with it. It boils up in a scant amount

of water quite quickly. When it is softened it is ready to eat. You

make a sauce. I eat it straight, but you could put it over icecream,

for example. Yum. I never make pies or preserves, but I should, huh?

Preserves are good, I just don't do them.

LOL! Jim, I edited my response because at first I told Mel et al that

you should use one part sugar for each one part rhubarb. THen I

thought, well, that might be a little sweet for some people.

Marta,

Where did you find the rhubarb root? I love rhubarb, and havent been

able to plant it since my Grandma died (and no one took care of the

rhubarb and the plant died. I use to get all my roots from that plant!)

, Yogurt and saurkraut! Gag girl! Get thee to the store and buy

BACON! I buy the pre-cooked (like Jim) and eat it early and often! I

switched to bacon when I couldn't get my beloved Jack tacos anymore (a

year ago) - it has only gotten really out of hand in the past couple of

months. ANd Mel, only Hellmans Mayo for this gal. Aren't we a funny

bunch? Oh and Jo, I was addicted to the little Grape tomatos last

summer - tore me up! but I couldn't resist them til my bottom became

raw! Yep, I am a weird kid! I am convinced that I would have packed on

another 100 pounds in the last 4 years had I not got switched.

Try Robbies nursery on the corner of Calloway (I think) and...shoot.

Um,...oh, crap. Rd? The road that turns into Santa Fe and then

into Hwy 43 leading to Shafter. They have the best roots. I have seen

it at Home Depot, but they looked tiny and pathetic. It won't be

available this time of year, but call them and ask when they will get

it. They should be out of it by now as it needs to be planted in cool

weather.

It IS tasty even though it is not as red as I remember. And, the best

part, I do not seem to be forming kidney stones! lol Maybe I ought to

cut some and freeze it to share with you. Let me know.

Hi Lee!

You are so cute! I love bacon myself. The way I dealt with it for

awhile was using soy bacon by Morningstar Farms. Be warned, though,

it smells (and tastes) just like regular bacon but the smell will

permeate your kitchen for HOURS. My husband has banned me from

having it at home. lol!

Hugs and love!

Hi Cindee!

I didn't hear that you had a flood! Yikes! I hope everything's

okay now.

I wish I could eat like you! What I wouldn't give to have a big,

yummy, bean and cheese chimichanga! If I did, I'd blow my husband

out of the house and wouldn't be able to face the public the next

day. lol!

Hugs!
