Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm back from my month's vacation. I drove 250 mi. to LA, then flew out to Las Vegas and spent the night in the airport trying to hang on to luggage while I caught 40 winks. Flew out in the morning for Hartford. Two days later was the 1st of my granddaughter's 2 wedding receptions. My daughter did a fantastic job. There were no flowers, no laces... and no chicken dances - per the bride's request. Joyce dreamed up a winter wonderland theme and cut large branches from their birches, " planted " them in cement, spray-painted them white, covered them with mini light strings and snowflake ornaments, and used over a dozen " trees " to decorate the serving table and corners of the church reception hall. Centerpieces and favors were likewise original & lovely. Friends insisted on fixing the food... and some of the compliments claimed they'd never had better, nor seen more beautiful. A week later we drove past Portland ME to his family's reception, where his dad did most of the cooking... and it was great! People were most warm and welcoming. Wish I could post pictures. Enjoyed the remainder of my time with Joyce and the 2 remaining kids... while my SIL spent a week in GA and one in the UK. (Think he was avoiding me?) Flew back (direct) to LA and spent several days there with family and friends. Seems so few people I saw are enjoying good health, that it makes me ever more grateful for my health status, thanks to the DS and excellent health care. Praise the Lord! I've spent the better part of the last 3 days digging out from under email & snail mail. Due to the tragedy in Goleta (Santa Barbara), our mail is stuck there until they can re-open the facility. Then they expect the local PO to be bombarded with mail. Goleta is 2 hours away, for those who do not know the local geography. Anyway, keep the survivors & families in your prayers. We just never know, do we?
