When to go to hospital for treatment

Hi everyone

I have been looking around the web, to see when one should go to the emergency

room when they have HepC, but haven't found any clear cut answers. So I am going

to ask the group for their opinion - what symptoms warrant a trip to the ER and

which symptoms can be treated in a GP's office?

I currently have severe swelling - from my toes and ankles to my hips, for the

last 2-3 days, since yesterday I now also have swelling in my abdomen and it is

quite distended (I look pregnant, I have put on a lot of weight fast but I know

it is not all because of junk food, it's not possible). My abdomen is also

severely sore, a mix of feeling nausea and being stabbed repeatedly with

something sharp...it goes away for a bit but comes back in less than 30-45

minutes.

I personally think that I should go to the hospital to be seen in the ER and

admitted for at least one night - ever since the swelling started moving up from

my ankles, I have the occasional episode where I have some difficulty catching a

deep breath, not sure if it is related or if it is just my anxiety over all of

this.

I was only diagnosed last month and could have only been infected within the

last 6-8 months at the most.

Doctor says fluid pills will help with my symptoms, and it takes a few days for

them to work and to get relief. I feel like he doesn't think my symptoms are

much of a concern. That's fine, if that is the truth and they aren't serious

symptoms but if they are, I want someone to treat me like I am in serious pain,

because I am. I have very limited mobility in my joints because of the swelling

as well. I was able to work 2 hours this morning before I had to be sent home. I

need some answers on what direction I should take in seeing a doctor today so

that I know when I can go back to work realistically.

Thanks for anything you can help me with
