Guest guest
You're right about the egos. I've seen an article or two about how they are saying Obama has made the US safer and increased in standing in the world. That's really a good one. So far he's got South America lining up against us, Europe mad at us still over the war on terror and Russia specifically threatening a return to the Cold War status of a nuclear arms race, one Obama has already announced his intention to surrender. As I've said before, the sooner we get it through our heads that most of the world hates us for the simple reason that it is easier to be jealous of success and wish to see it destroyed than to pursue success yourself. We need to start looking after ourselves in terms of food supplies, energy and manufacturing again. Food is easy since we could make just about all we need, save for some luxuries. Manufacturing we could do as well by changing the tax code, regulations and busting the unions, in that order. Energy, though, underpins it all, and the politicians and big heads in DC don't seem to understand that. They want to make energy more expensive and scarce rather than more plentiful and cheaper, which is what we'll need to keep farms producing, factories operating and trucks and trains delivering goods, not to mention keeping the lights on and computers churning. It is entirely possible to set up for more energy that is cleaner that what we have now with current technology, all it will take is the will to spend about what we spend for one year on the war on terror to build the machines needed: new generation nuke plants, clean coal plants, garbage to biodiesel, and new sources of oil from the ground. And the reason he is still getting away with it is because people with egos don't want to admit they made a mistake in voting for him because that would hurt too much. So they still support him. Also, there is of course PARTY LOYALTY. For people like me, who never vote a straight ticket, but choose whom I think are the best candidates for the job, I seldom have to grapple with voting the wrong people into office.
