Welcome to the group Flea , I am one of the co-owners here and the medical researcher for the group . Two of our owners are in California , Jackie and Sheena . I am originally from Bellflower Ca , I lived and worked in Stockton for 8 yrs as a paramedic and then settled down in Anaheim , but moved to Las Vegas in 2001 . What part of Cali are you in ?

California pacific med center is where my hepatologist works , Dr Gish is his name ...he comes to Vegas once a month to see patients here and evaluate for transplant .

You are under good care; I think Dr. Gish is pretty renowned for his work with Hep C.  I see another Dr. in the group, but during the trial visits, I meet with my nurse practitioner and then am seen by whatever Dr. is on duty that day.  So I have seen Dr. Gish a couple of times, briefly.  I didn't realize that Cal. Pac. Med. Ctr. had a clinic in Las Vegas; that's great.  But I do remember my NP saying one of the patients in the trial came from Las Vegas . . . that's a long haul to San Francisco!  LeighCalifornia pacific med center is where my hepatologist works , Dr Gish is his name ...he comes to Vegas once a month to see patients here and evaluate for transplant . well actually yes, our little local hosp has a hep c support group that meets once a month here, but I've actually never been to a meeting. I find more than enough support here on this forum and with my disability, I dont feel well enough to go most of the time.. but if you find that you need a group, Im sure we can find one for you...

I tried to get into the trial programs in San Fransisco but because I am a non responder with multiple problems I was excluded Dr. Gish is a great doctor but sometimes get's ahead of himself and his ego lol He was a guest speaker at my other site and did a great job dealing with all the questions fired at him at one time hehe

, I'm sorry you didn't qualify for the clinical trial.  Sometimes things happen for a reason and there's most likely something better for you in the near future.  A funny thing happened to me . . . It's gonna take more time now , I have to have surgery on my neck . One of the screws they used on my fusion surgery is broken in half and needs to be fixed . And this means delays in treatment cause it will take allot of time for my body to recover from the surgery , ick
