Wound healing

This was something we talked about at Friday's Ukiah meeting. While it is true

that WLS

patients do seem to have some problems with healing quickly - this is not due to

the

surgeries. One of the causes is diabetes - as diabetics can atest too, you do

not heal very

quickly when you have diabetes. Another reason is that fat does not have much

(if any?)

blood supply - with out the blood there it is very difficult for the wound to

heal. What

helps this is getting the blood flowing. So like was previously stated, get your

exercise -

also protein helps speed healing as does water. So, if you are postop - walk,

drink water

and eat your protein.

Ok, I have now tossed in my two cents, sorry I have been lurking so much lately

- school

started last week and it is crazy.

Also wanted to thank everyone for their prayers about my car situation. About

two weeks

ago we were blessed with finding a " new " car. Having spent several weeks on

craigslist.com I finally found a suitable car - the only problem was that my

financial aid

had not shown up. A pure blessing from God, my parents came over to visit for a

day and

decided that they could spot me the money and even give us a lift to Sacramento

where

the car was. (they live in Yuba City)

So we went and looked at the car, and fell in love with it. It is a 2001 Kia

Optima with

123,000 miles. This was truly ordained - the women we bought the car off of had

just

bought a new Lexus, a new home and needed to get the Kia off their insurance.

Most of

the miles were from commuting to Emeryville everyday from Sac.

We were again blessed, when they reduced the price to only $2700. A little out

of our price

range, until my grandmother decided that she needed to help us buy the car and

gave us

$500. This brought the price right to the top of our price range - and confirmed

my

prayers about the car.

So thanks again for all of your prayers, they certainly helped.
