Guest guest
, Are you taking pills or the injectible MTX? I've been on MTX for 8 weeks and it does getter better. My first injection made me extremely tired. I now take it after dinner so the only thing I need to do is rest. I also get headaches the next day, really bad ones, so my rheumie has me take Vicoprofen for that day. It really helps. Sleep is so important. Can you talk to your doctor about a sleep aid? Guest guest
: Assuming you are on the pills, you might want to ask your dr about switching to injections. I had awful side effects w/pills - was down all weekend after taking them on Friday nights. The injections made all of it go away. No more headaches, exhaustion, nausea, etc. Good luck! in Texas bp101_brat <bp101_brat@...> wrote: Hello All! Well, it was like the countdown to all countdowns the last week. I wasnt sure if it was just MTX or if my flare has been that bad my body just doesnt know what to do?? And of course like many of us; I am NOT sleeping real good right now. It is a whole 5 degrees here this morning and I am FREEZING!!! So if anyone can just give me some tips to get through those few days after MTX it would mean so much. I was told to take it at bedtime to get through the sick " after " dosing.....but as you know I have two little ones and it is hard when mommy is down. Take care of all of you. Guest guest
How much are u taking? I take 12.5mg once a week and have never felt sick. I wouldn't even know I have taken it, unless it settles things down. I often find by Friday I am hanging out for it to settle everything down and may take it Friday night if i am really bad. Guest guest
, I don't know how long you have been taking the MTX but, for me, it has gotten better each week. The first 6 weeks or so were terrible. It has gradually gotten better. The Folic aciid helps a great deal. Try to rest up more before you take it, also. I hope it gets better for you quickly! Remember to tell yourself why you are taking it and that it is worth it. PM > > > > , are you taking folic acid? Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to commiserate with you on your MTX. I started with injections and then my doctor put me on the pill version. I haven't seen a lot of difference between them other than that I'm more queezy with the pills, but not significantly. I too have the same issues. I take it and it wipes me out for about 3 days following. I'm basically mostly in bed those 3 days with little or no energy. It finally starts to get better after the 3rd day and gradually gets better until time to take the MTX again a week later. A vicious cycle. I also take folic acid, it hasn't done a thing and my hair is still falling out at the same rate. I also take nioxin for the hair loss, but that hasn't done anything either. I take vitamin b 6 as well which is supposed to help the folic acid absorb better. That hasn't proven to do anything either. If there are any suggestions out there that helps, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. So , I'm with you and wish you well. Let me know if you get new answers from your doctor and I'll try to do the same when I see my doc next week. Have a great day, All my best, Les > , > > I don't know how long you have been taking the MTX but, for me, it has gotten better each > week. The first 6 weeks or so were terrible. Guest guest
It's been a year plus for me and MTX and I still hate our " monday " date. Ug. things that help: Folic Acid Ginger Ale Fiber prilosec She's right. It gets ALOT better after the first six months... my doc actually let me go to a lower dose, but here's a tip: never skip a dose. I did once and the following Monday was yucky! aik > > > > > > , are you taking folic acid?
